At the beginning of 2007, thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions succeeded in commissioning a side discharge dumper for the TIS terminal located at Yuzhny, the Ukraine.

For emptying the wagons, the cycle time of 220 seconds can be realised, while the dumping procedure allowing for a rotation of up to a maximum of 160° is completed after 95 seconds with simultaneous clamping of the wagon by means of gravity clamping device.

Successful operation over the entire life cycle

The contents inside wagons are discharged into a slot bunker opposite the dumper platform from where it is discharged to the downstream conveyor system. The tippler is driven by two drive pinions matched to the two tooth rims mounted on the end shields. The 2 drive pinions are connected by a drive shaft to the gear reducer and motor, controlled by frequency converter. With such a procedure the unloading rate of max. 15 wagons per hour can be achieved.

A special platform for weighing the wagons is installed under-neath the dumper platform as an integrated part.

To move the wagons into and out of the dumper platform, a side arm charger is installed alongside the railway. The charger moves and positions the wagon rake consisting of 15 wagons in front of dumper and then push one uncoupled wagon on the platform, at the same time the empty wagon is pushed out of the platform.

The travel gear of the charger consists of tooth rack and pinion, driven by hydraulic motor for constant drive torque control and precision positioning.

Competence and know-how by tradition

The side discharge car dumper is designed for discharge different commodities from railway cars. Its operation is controlled via a con-trol stand installed in the E-house near the plant. The wagons to be dumped and discharged are open railway wagons of the Ukrainian Railway, as well as factory-owned wagons of several companies.

The carrying capacity of the dumper platform with passing-over possibility amounts to maximum 100 tons with overload limitation for more operation safety. The motions of advancing, positioning and pushing away of the wagons are realized by means of a side arm charger travelling on a rail track integrated with a tooth rack for travel drive.

Tipping is driven by means of a AC motor, gear reducer with a brake, which is fed by frequency converter for variable speed control.
