    Description:

    Hello everyone!

At first Gratz on IC work that makes some pixels expirience so fun!

I am running small server based on Minecraft 1.6.4 for few friends, me and my girfriend.

Exact mods list we have installed is as follow; (+installation order - this worked for us) - forge-1.6.4-9.11.1.953

    - CodeChickenCore 0.9.0.7

    - GC 2 + Core + Planets 1.6.4-2.0.6.895

    more infos;

I do know, and I am aware of some facts - bugs just exist.Would like to point out a small & big

problem, I am not asking for fixing any problem for me etc. I do understand that many things

are not stable...not sure how to exactly explain that, I don't expect for my problem to go away

kind of, but asking if any one meybe knows anything WHY,

we are expiriencing energy leak between all the mods - what I mean is, we are not able to supply GC2 mod with energy from IC2 Experimental because it's all gone!

72 x IC2 E Solar Panels are able to supply many of IC2 E machines...and to store up some

  • extra energy, if plugged to GC2 oxygen related machines (space station only checked for this issue) causes almost instant EU drain out.

I am not native English speaker I hope You can understand as this is kind a weird. I

appologise for some text bugs I made ;p.

I have tried so many configurations with cables, energy storage related machines between all the mods...I've even added 2x Combustion Engines (BC) for whole energy cuircuit...and all

energy was just gone... As more energy I was supplying for whole cuircuit than just more was kind of draining from it.

I am aware of calculation ratio in between all the mods...I have already tried that too set IC2

up to 6.0 and BuildCraft up to 3.0 with no help to that problem. Observing even more weird things happening to energy cuircuit setting 72 x IC2 Solar Panels +2x Buildcraft Combustion

Engins connected with Glass Fiebre to MFSU | ALSO Combustion Engines to Wooden Input than to Quartz pipe plugged to GC Energy Storage Module and to same MFSU mentioned above (BC

pipes will not connect to MFSU).

Still was not able to save up energy in MFSU. I know GC machines are draining much more energy from IC2 and way too much compared both. But it doesn't change the fact of...quite a

weird things happening between these mods. Last example was resulting in; -No energy in MFSU collected for later,

-GC Machines showing no energy input (i know about input/output sides) but...somehow working,

    - ... head confused... ;p

I am not sure what is causing this as any configuration with GC, IC, BC was giving still no result to even 1 GC machine - I think it was Oxygen Sealer I was testing most...

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!

    And Good Luck!

    _______________

Ok, I think I have some interesting info about this problem...After tons of testing I have

figured that It actually could be caused by IC2...I am not sure abbout this but it looks like somehow as more power is added...than more just keeps drained - just like that - as I said, I

don't know if this is a GC machines problem...or IC, but deffinetly as more I was overloading, than more was getting sucked up to the energy curcuit. Today I have runed more tests starting

everything from the beggining "of energy evolution" (IC2 Batboxes, and Transformers) and I have realised that there is a problem in a middle like...Before I have done that, I have even

changed the ratio in between mods to 1600 000 and it did not helped. So I think I have my answer now. IC2 itself, works in a way, that If You overload any energy cuircuit, it will not use /

drain / more than it needs - giving all machines chance to work normally. It also works for us this way when it comes to GC machines (only) also. But when I have started to mix energy from

especially GC and IC, energy was just keep drained...somewhere and somehow. I am not a programmer...so not sure how to check what is causing this, but worth to have a look on this

    problem I think.

I know IC recently had some major changes to how all the system works, I was using previous versions as well - meybe that is an asnwere.

If this was any help to anyone meybe worth to keep, if trash than bye!

    Thanks!

I will send this to BuildCraft makers and IC2 as well so that They could have a look at the

    problem as well.

    Steps To Reproduce:

    Additional

    Information:

Sorry this is not filled properly...every mod uses different way of reporting...just to inform mostly

    about the problem.

    Good Luck and thanks!

  • GC and BC makers will receive same report.

Summary: OC modules may be broken. I think it has to do with the new EU tweaking

Description: If you put stacked overclocking upgrades inside an advanced miner, it will freeze, not leeching

any power at all from the batteries, you have to break it and place it again, fill it with power and *not* put stacked OC modules. Even 2 in a stack will freeze it.

Again, other machines can take stacked OC modules, which makes them ultra-fast. Putting

enough stacked OC modules just freezes the production, but unlike the advanced miner, you can just take a few out, and production resumes. On my computer, I can place about 12 OCs in one

socket, and I will end up having an instant production machine.

2.0.344, latest forge 9.11.1.965 for Minecraft 1.6.4 NEI and OptiFine.

    Steps To

    Reproduce:

Just put some stacked overclock modules in any machine. About 10 in one socket will do...

Summary: 2.0.344 Miner resets it's mining position after reloading a level

Description: Miner is reset at level 63 (on which I placed it), after it got to level 30 and rebooting the game.

After the "save and exit", it statrs from the beginning. I don't know if it is supposed to work that way.

    Steps To

    Reproduce:

Just reload a saved level where advanced miner got few blocks under it's base level position.

I forgot to say - it's the advanced miner, not the regular one.

Tried in a new world, making the same thing... Its a problem with the glass fiber cable, i think its

the texture rendering or something, when i break a single cable it doesn't dissapear completely and that make the memory suck and crash later.

Im gonna try with a different cable, but it'll be a pain in the ass for my large solar panel complex

    (many energy lost for it).

BTW, tested with 160 solar panels with their 160 glass fiber cables, MC crash after break just 1 of them.

Edit: with 20-40 solar panels less i can break 1 cable without crash... After take 10-15 secs with

my PC fans on fire, memory saying "give me a break dude" and my I5-2500 thinking the same thing. I taked 2 cables away at the same time, worst error ever, autocrash after suck all the

memory and make my I5 work more than playing Crysis.

This must be fixed, what its the point of make large cable installations if i must remake the whole map if i miss 1 single cable in a bad spot?

Yeah, this sounds like a memory leak somewhere in the e-net code, thanks for reporting it. Last

question, did you try it with non-glass cable? I think I remember seeing other reports about glass cable specifically, so it would be nice to know for sure there is an issue there.

On a tangential note, how was your solar farm laid out? If you had 160 cable for 160 panels, that

makes me think they were in a square grid where the bottom layer was cable the top layer was

panels, and all the cables were connecting to each other. Even without the memory leak, this is the most CPU-consuming way to wire it because the e-net code has to essentially solve this

    problem: http://www.mathpages.com/home/kmath668/kmath668.htm. [^]

It is much better to separate them so the cables go in straight lines and join at only a few points.

  • I like to make my arrays in 3-wide rows, with one line on top of the cable and one line to either side. You can save diamond by using copper cable on the rows (if there is less than 128 solar

panels on them) and then have multiple rows feed into a MFE or transformers.

My idea is cover the whole roof of my house-base of solar panels for use that space in something usefull. That idea, in a 28x27 house can be a huge quantity of solar panels (650 if maths works),

more than those 160 i've tried in a new world.

I'll try with another kind of cable. This is a pic of what im trying to do (worked anyway in 1.4.5 -

    4.7 - 5 before take a break of MC).

    http://i.imgur.com/WThlOMN.jpg [^]

BTW, 1 question: Is possible to "disconnect" cables? I mean, like put cobblestone and stone pipes of buildcraft or different colored cables in AE.

Edit: Confirmed, 6 straight lines of 25 cables together (150) are enough for make a crash if i

destroy a single one of them. Tried with HV cables.

I'll try making 3 lines-1 space-3 lines more and look what happen.

Tried this with copper cables in a new world, works perfect when i break anything in any spot, ok. Tried the same in my old world, memory leak and crash, just epic.

Try building it in long strings with cross-sections like this, and have them come together at a CESU or something:

    (air) (panel) (air)

    (panel) (cable) (panel)

It's not a perfectly flat surface, but it gives the roof character and uses a lot less cable. Solar panels are usually mounted at angles anyways.

The last thing i've tried is this:

    http://i.imgur.com/9uwVsrr.jpg [^]

It works... More or less. If i break something near the green area nothing bad happen, ok. If i break something in the yellow area it take 2-3 secs and suck some memory, but it get

stabilized after that, ok np. Same for the red area, 2-3 secs, some memory leak and stabilize after that.

For now im gonna use this setting, no crashes no problem, but like i said... This worked perfectly

in 1.4 and 1.5, maybe its a 1.6 problem or maybe its for the experimental build... IDK, but its a real pain in the ass.

Edit: The area with the MFSU is the green area.

Thanks for giving us more information.

You still haven't tried what I suggested, which is to completely eliminate any place that the cables

make a square with themselves. Which you do by changing your three-wide rows so that the outer rows are *down next to* the cable instead of on top of it (each cable connects to three

panels and two other cables, instead of one panel and four other cables). But I won't argue that it's still a pain in the ass.

I spent some time debugging this today. In ic2.core.energy.Grid in 'void remove(Node node)'

there's a breadth-first-search of the grid starting from the removed node (the bit with connectedNodes and nodesToCheck).

The loop maintains a visited HashSet (connectedNodes) but only updates this list when a node is

visited. If two nodes A and B share a neighbor C, and A and B are in nodesToCheck, then C will be added to the queue twice. Once that happens, all of C's neighbors will be added twice, and the

situation multiplies. In a grid this can happen relatively easily, and from my own experiments only 500 nodes (250 solar + 250 copper) are needed to consume gigabytes of RAM with duplicated

    entries in the nodesToCheck list.

The fix is to add the node to connectedNodes before adding the node to nodesToCheck. This guarantees each node will be visited exactly once and resolves this issue. I made the change in

bytecode locally (I just moved the .add call down to the if !connectedNodes.contains block) and confirmed that the issue no longer occurs. I'd send a patch if I could :)

    (0002010)

    adrake

    2013-12-28 08:49

To clarify, I added "connectedNodes.add(nNode)" before "nodesToCheck.add(nNode)" and

removed the call to "connectedNodes.add(cNode)" (since it's now redundant). I also added a call

to add the initial node to connectedNodes.

Summary: Heat vents potentially transfer more heat than intended

Description: Drawing attention to a phenomenon discovered by Bobblybook on the forums here: http://forum.industrial-craft.net/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=10227 [^]

Ever since build 288, where reactors where changed to calculate twice per tick, it seems that

heat exchangers transfer more than they should. At minimum, basic heat exchangers and reactor heat exchangers are affected. It remains to be seen whether or not component heat exchangers

and advanced heat exchangers also show this behavior.

With the reactor calculating twice, they exchangers apply their transfer power twice, therefore transferring twice as much heat as they did before build 288. Ostensibly a buff - twice as much

bang for your buck - this was discovered to break one perticular existing reactor design that is extremely sensitive to too much transfer power in the wrong place. If it was not for that design,

it might have never been discovered.

The question is - was this an intended buff to exchangers, or was this an oversight? The broken reactor design can be easily fixed, so there is no problem per se with the values as they currently

are. But just in case it was unintended, I wanted to point you guys towards it.

Balance consideration: If component exchangers in particular do twice as much as previously

thought, this makes room for stronger MOX reactors, as they rely on component exchangers for spreading heat. Less exchangers needed means more room for heat vents.

Summary: Cables disconnecting after server restart (IC2 API)

Description: I'm using the IC2 API and implementing IEnergySink. I post an EnergyTileLoadEvent on the first

updateEntity run and I post an EnergyTileUnloadEvent at invalidate() and onCuckUnload(). My block accepts energy and does connect before restart. After server restart all cables connecting to

my block will disconnect. When placing a block next to the cable(forcing a block update), the cable will visually connect, but not transfer power(desync). When extending IC2 machines these

problems will not happen. AtomicStryker had the same problem with Advanced Machines, but he switched to extending IC2 classes. I cannot do that as my mod is not an dependancy of IC2.

    Steps To

    Reproduce:

Make a mod which adds a TileEntity implementing IEnergySink connect cables and restart server.
