Romance under the starss e T T i n g . The cozy paradise lies in the less crowded side of Station 1 in Sitio Pinaongon. Upon entering, the wicker chairs and tables easily lend a warm, casual elegance. Overhead, the transparent canopy can add romance to the dinner experience especially during, starry evenings. The restaurant is spacious and airy, and can accommodate 150 people at one time. It is open for breakfast from 6 to 10:30am; 11am to 2:30pm for lunch; 2:30 to 6pm for tapas and 6-10:30pm for dinner.

W h y i T ’ s B i g o n d i n n e r . Ambassador in Paradise offers a new set menu every day. A full meal (P950++) starts with appetizer like the smoked salmon squid Tartare infused with dill and pesto. The main course is often an interplay of subtle and powerful flavors like the Trio of U.s. Black angus Tenderloin with Foie gras, gratin dauphinois and the very tender skewered Lamb on couscous. For a dessert, a sweet surprise of chocolate-encased Langka-Flavored Brazo de mercedes. A glass of Chardonnay or Merlot completes the delectable experience. The wine list includes Rothschild wines and varietals as well as Dom Perignon champagne.

W h aT e L s e T o T r y. The menu is extensive and bewildering. From chateaubriand with Foie gras (P1,600), nasi goreng (P580), to U.s. certified Black angus Beef Tenderloin roasted in a wood-fired oven (P1,475), every item is truly worth a try. For an interesting snack the Pinoyzza (P380) is a must — pan de sal dough topped with roasted aubergine, native salted egg, marinated tuna , cream cheese and arugula. ■

a taste of italia right on the island

s e T T i n g . The earth tones of its dining area and the sight of diners enjoying their food tease passersby to drop by. With the constant stream of people coming and going to D’Mall where it is located, Aria is a prime spot for people watching anytime from 11am to 12 midnight.

W h y i T ’ s B i g o n L U n c h . If authentic Italian pizza and pasta are what you’re craving for, look no further. The ingredients, the process, and the passion that goes into the food are real Italian. The woodfire oven-baked Pizza al metro (P1,100) is a delightful medley of three flavor combinations of any of the restaurant’s pizza toppings, good for groups or a ravenous appetite. The spaghetti al nero is suffused with the flavors of black cuttlefish sauce while the al Fume (P420) has a rich, creamy sauce laden with bacon, brandy and emmental cheese. These go well with German beer or white wine. Aria has an extensive list of house wines and beer.

W h aT e L s e T o T r y. For the main course, give the costata di manzo (P700) a try. This grilled ribeye steak comes with several choices of sauce. For dessert, the Panna cotta al mango e amaretto (P185) is refreshingly fruity and creamy or if you want three desserts in one, get the aria tris di dolci (P380), a merry mix of panna cotta, crema catalana and tiramisu. ■
