1. AIESECAIESEC is a French acronym for Association Internationaledes Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales(Eng. International Association of Student in Economics andManagement) and is a global, non-political, independent, non-profit organization run by students and recent graduates ofinstitutions of higher education. Its members are interested inworld issues, leadership and management. AIESEC does notdiscriminate on the basis of race, colour, gender, sexualorientation, creed and religion, national, ethnic or social origin.

It was created after World War II in 1948 by a French youth -It was created after World War II in 1948 by a French youth -Erik Malson, who had experienced the painful price of the warand wanted a way to develop friendly relations betweenEuropean nations.

Erik Malson gathered six other students from all over Europeand founded AIESEC in Stockholm, Sweden. It began in 1948as an organisation to help develop “friendly relations” betweenmember countries. At the time, the mission was “to expand theunderstanding of a nation by expanding the understanding ofthe individuals, changing the world one person at a time.” Thiswas achieved through exchange programs betweenparticipating countries. Soon, AIESEC became popular and bythe end of 1960, 2467 exchanges were reported.

2. AIESEC Hong Kong History

• 1976 The first out-town study tour, headed by Professor Hsia wasdispatched from Hong Kong to Japan in August 1976.

• 1980 AIESEC in Hong Kong hosted the 7th Asian Congress inDecember with 50 delegates from 10 Asian Countries. SeminarTraineeship Program with the theme of ‘Post-was EconomicDevelopment in China’, which comprised a series of seminars as wellas a 5-day study tour into Mainland China, won the ‘AIESECInternational Best Project Award’.

• 1983 AIESEC in Hong Kong hosted the 6th Asia-Pacific Leadership• 1983 AIESEC in Hong Kong hosted the 6th Asia-Pacific LeadershipDevelopment Seminar (APLDS) in August in the campus of theChinese University of Hong Kong.

• 1984 1st National leadership Development Seminar was began in1984.

• 1985 1st National Conference was held in October, 1985

• 1986 3rd Local Committee was established at Hong Kong BaptistCollege.

• 1987 10th Asian-Pacific Leadership Development Seminar was held.

• 1990 International President Meeting’1990 was conducted by AIESEC in Hong Kong

• 1990 4th Local Committee was established at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

• 1992 The project 'Time for Awakening', with the theme of environmental projection won the 1992 'Asia-Pacific Best Project Award‘

• 1994 Project RICH with the theme of "Development of Education towards the Asia Pacific Era" won the 1994 "AIESC International Best Publication Award"

AIESEC is present in over 110 countries and territories with over 60,000 members. What makes AIESEC unique is the youth driven impactful experience that it offers to its

members. AIESEC is run by young people for young people, enabling a strong experience to all its stakeholders.

Our membership base consists of more than 60,000 young people in over 2,100 universities in 110 countries and territories. Local, National and International offices are

managed by students or recent graduates. AIESEC is run by youth, for youth.

Together, the network manages relationships with well over 4,000 partners, facilitates more than 16,000 exchanges and 20,000 leadership roles, and organizes over 470 conferences

each year.

7. Growth NetworkTherefore, AIESEC has united its Member Committees in 6 regional growth networks

(Africa, Asia Pacific, Central & Eastern Europe, Iberian-America, Middle-East, and Western Europe & North America) to enlarge the range of opportunities for the young

people’s involvement in its activities and to increase its global influence. These groups are formed according to the common market, economic and social realities, and the possibilities

for cooperation.

The AIESEC Experience represents the main tool which ourglobal organization is using for the development andinvolvement of members, young people and organizationsthat interact with AIESEC. It is designed to fulfill the mainoutcomes that AIESEC wants to achieve, thus reachingcloser to our vision in the same time:

1. Engagement with AIESECIn this phase, young people are introduced with AIESEC activitiesthrough different engagement channels: direct participation inprojects, trainings, events etc. If you consider joining theorganization later, this is where you can learn about the WHY, HOWand WHAT of AIESEC.

2. Experiential Leadership DevelopmentThe main programmes of the organization are delivered in theExperiential Leadership Development phase. This is the leadershipdevelopment centre where the members can learn and gaineverything from the global leadership network of AIESEC. The fourprogrammes are separate products that we offer to young peopleand organizations for their further development and contributionto society, and can be completed in any order:

Global Internship ProgrammeIn this programme you have the opportunity togain directly professional experience. You canwork in a country abroad and create a very bignetwork. You can make your CV more attractiveand live a multi-cultural experience. And ofcourse all this will happen with the support ofyour AIESEC country and the AIESEC countryyou will go to. Last but not least we can promiseyou that from this experience you will gainLEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT!

Team Leader ProgrammeThis experience will culminate in your personaland professionaldevelopment through the concept of teambuilding and management. You get toexperience leading other members and guidingthem in their work, thus becoming a crucial partof their development.
