Indoor Sports Leader Position Description

Position Purpose The Indoor Sports Leader is responsible for leading the Indoor Sports department at Casey Stadium. A key focus of the role is Indoor Cricket however, includes all programming of the indoor sports area such as indoor soccer, clinics and other activation. The core role of the Indoor Sports Leader is to coordinate, develop and implement quality cricket and soccer experiences for the community. The Indoor Sports Leader will play a key role in driving domestic competitions and liaising with the competitive program. Establishing and maintaining strong, mutually beneficial partnerships with peak bodies and local organisations and clubs is a key aspect of the role. In addition to local programming, the role has emphasis on delivering major events through relationships with state and national organisations. A key aspect to this role is to increase the cricket usage at Casey Stadium and ensure the programs and services offered meet the needs of the community. The successful applicant will be highly motivated and passionate about delivering programs and competitions with strong ability to prioritise and multitask. The role will include completing shifts across a range of hours including mornings, days, nights and weekends.

Direct involvement with the provision of service delivery for competitions and programs

Provide excellent customer service to all customers, both in person and over the phone

Have a comprehensive understanding of the facility and the programs and services offered

Drive the growth and sustainability of the Indoor Sport competitions

To attend and identify community events, meetings and networking opportunities within the City of Casey and broader community to promote the YMCA programs and services

Continue to develop and foster professional relationships with appropriate City of Casey council officers and departments

Develop and build a strong day to day working relationship with community sporting associations in Casey and surrounding regions

Indoor Sports Leader Position Description

Programming

Prepare, monitor and submit fixtures for competitions through Spawtz Programming Software

Maintain player and team statistics for indoor sports

Monitor and prepare material for IPTV screens in the indoor sports area, including promotion of events, domestic and competitive competitions

Drive the growth and sustainability of indoor sports competitions at senior and junior levels

Assist with the delivering of a program pathway from junior to elite indoor cricket

Corresponding with all domestic and competitive teams to ensure strong and organised competitions and game day experiences

Liaising and promoting cricket training lanes with outdoor cricket clubs for training sessions

Liaise and drive a strong umpiring reputation

Develop and implement programs and competitions alongside the Program & Inclusion Coordinator to cater for community members and groups such as however not limited to;

o Children and young people o Seniors o Families o People with physical, intellectual, sensory disabilities, mental or chronic illnesses o People from different cultural backgrounds o People with limited resources/opportunity

Identify opportunities to form collaborative partnerships to assist in developing programs that will benefit the community

Be innovative in identifying services that can be provided to the broader community

Ability to develop and maintain strong partnerships

Build relationships which create opportunities for Casey Stadium to host for major events

To maintain a focus on the sustainability of programs and competitions. This may involve identifying and accessing grants and fundraising.

Manage Casey Stars elite teams to raise the profile of indoor cricket and develop the club to become an industry leader

Provide leadership to the Casey Stars committee and volunteer group to ensure organisation and on field success Community Strengthening

Position Specific Requirements Within the parameters of this Position Description and the training you have, you are authorised and required to undertake any actions that will ensure that your facility is clean, safe and inviting for all visitors. Position Aims

Make the community aware of the programs and services offered at the centre

Communication Skill - Applicants will be required to have strong oral and written communication skills which will form the foundation for successful public relations campaigns, partnership building and liaising with organisation and community members to program programs and services.

Indoor Sports Leader Position Description

Minimum Qualifications

HLTFA301B First Aid Level 2 or equivalent

HLTCPR201A CPR or equivalent (including defibrillator qualification)

Responsible Service of Alcohol

Defibrillator Certificate

Mechanical Oxygen Certificate Desirable Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in recreation / sport or related field

Beginner Coach Course Required prior to commencement:

Working with Children Check or Equivalent

Australian Children’s Foundation Online Safeguarding Children Certificate

Satisfactory National Criminal History Records Check, and International Police Records Check (if applicable) Safeguarding Children and Young People You will be required to display leadership and commitment within the organisation with the YMCA Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy at all times. You must;

Declare anything you become aware of through the course of your engagement with YMCA which a reasonable person would consider could impede your suitability to have contact with children and young people

Act as an extended guardian towards children and young people where you have interactions and at all times take reasonable steps to prevent abuse and neglect

Adhere to all policies and procedures relating to safeguarding children and young people and the code of conduct

Update your details whenever these changes, with the relevant department administering the working with children check or equivalent in your state/ territory of residence, as required by applicable laws

Complete WWCC prior to commencement and maintain currency throughout employment

The position holds a permanent part time (30 hours a fortnight) status on an RE5 ($25.20)

The position has a tenured end date of 18/04/21

The position is in accordance with the terms and conditions of the YMCA Staff Collective Agreement 2015
