COST IS1104:• Title: The EU in the new complex geography of economic
systems: models, tools and policy evaluation • Main objectives: • A) to provide a better understanding of the EU as a

COST Countries:
– “Open Call” with collection dates
– Membership is open to all countries within 12 months of Action approval
– After that, approval of MC is required

May participate on an Action-by-Action basis, provided that
• There is mutual S&T benefit
• The CSO approves (following MC and DC approval)

Special schemes with Neighbouring countries (meetings and travel costs) and Argentina/Australia/New Zealand/South Africa (RSTSMs)

Reimbursement Policy
• According to the COST rules: Standard rates for meals and accommodation (no invoices needed), actual cost of most economical travel (copies of tickets).
• Normally, up to 2 researchers per signatory country per individual MC or WG meeting can be reimbursed
• This is a maximum, not an entitlement, to ensure a reasonable international balance among the participants.
• In addition, a limited number of invited experts can be reimbursed.• For WG meetings, selection can be delegated to the WG Coordinator and
the MC Chair, after nomination by the MC of MC members themselves or other researchers drawn from the respective national research communities.

Local organiser support
• Support for conferences and workshop in conjunction with MC meetings or other major scientific event
• One conference/workshop per year is usual• Grant:
– Up to 10.000 EUR– Up to 30 EUR p.p: no invoices needed– More than 30 EUR p.p: invoices needed (attention: VAT is
non-eligible cost!)

Short-Term Scientific Missions
• Promote exchange within an Action’s scientific objectives.• Allow a researcher (especially early-stage) to go to an
institution in another COST country to foster cooperation• Duration of the mission: from 5 days up to 3 months• Grant: normally up to 2.500 EUR• Special STSMs for Early Stage Researchers (< PhD+8
years): up to 6 months with a grant of up to 3500 EUR• Application procedure: through the online tool. Prior MC
approval necessary.

Training Schools
• Provide dissemination of Action activities and intensive training, especially for young researchers. Action members are normally the lecturers.
• Duration: normally less than 5 days• Number of attendees: normally up to 30• Support for:
– Organisation: like local organiser support– Lecturers: normal COST reimbursement rules– Fixed grants for attendees: normally up to 600 EUR or like
