Feature Article 9 February 2015 The girl who was enslaved by technology throughout her childhood. Amelia’s life has been quite dierent from other children. Mainly because of the fact that she never went to school like most other kids. Yes, she never went to school. Back in 1991 since the tender age of 5 she was exposed to a personal computer. Her parents decided to hand over the responsibility of her education in the hands of the world wide web. She was home schooled through an online curriculum. So with the guidance of her parents she began using the internet to study. She’d sit at home the entire day glued to her computer, reading things and watching videos that her father searched up for her. At the age of 8. she became independent with the computer and could do all her work without guidance. She was a smart child and used the internet to her fullest advantage for learning. Often she would play games or watch a movie on her computer when she didn't feel like working because there was no one to watch over her to tell her what to do. Amelia had no sense of routine or discipline. She’d wake up and sleep whenever she felt like. “She started becoming extremely anti-social. She’d never go out and play ad she found it very hard to communicate with children of her own age and so she spent most of her time at home.” said Mrs. Jackson, Amelia’s mother. As years passed, the world wide web developed greatly and so did Amelia. She is now 17 years old and has successfully graduated from an online University called the Adeline Christian University. Surprisingly she learnt to interact and socialise with people, not in person but through her computer screen. She is extremely popular on social media with over 10,000 friends on Facebook and a twitter handle called #noclasstime. job in developing Amelia’s brain academically but it has caused way more harm than good. She has been diagnosed with severe eye illnesses due to excessive straining and exposure to radiation. She suffers from severe migraines on a daily basis.

She finds it extremely hard to interact face to face with people and can barely sustain a 2 minute conversation with someone of her own age.
