Indirect Trainer
Guide
Train the Trainer
Thank you for your interest in the Indirect
Trainer Program. The CDP strives to make this
program easy for you to participate in while
maximizing the positive impact on your agency’s
operational readiness. Participating as a trainer
also enhances your individual credentials in your
field and as an all-hazards response trainer.
Trainer Responsibilities and
Expectations• As a CDP Indirect Trainer, you are authorized to
deliver the course(s) in the state which approved you
to attend this course
• You are responsible for verifying all State
Administrative Agency (SAA) training processes for
your state to ensure compliance
• An authorized Indirect Trainer is expected to follow
CDP processes to document and certificate all
training
Indirect Training StepsCreate course in CDP Trainer Portal at least 30 days prior to
delivery date
– Click the “My Training Deliveries” tab
– Click on “Create Class”
The course may require SAA approval and will remain in draft status until
approved. Once approved, the class will be assigned a class number. If
approval is not required a class number will automatically be assigned.
Materials Request
• Enter the address where you would like the class materials shipped
• Receive email confirmation of materials request
• Inventory Administrative Support Package & report issues immediately
Course support materials are accessed using the
“My Resources” tab
Click on the class number and it will open the Roster Management
System (RMS). Student Instructions for registration will be listed here

*Include the Student Instructions in the course announcement
email as an attachment to ensure the registration links work properly.
Student Communication• The “Email All Students” link in RMS provides the capability to email
all students who are currently registered for training
• Email comes from a “No Reply email. Include your contact
information for your students convenience
Day-of-Training Registrations in
Roster Management System
Conduct Training
• Cancellations should be reported to the CDP staff
to be managed accordingly
• Deliver all modules per the course
requirements
• Team teaching is permitted and encouraged
• Day of training:
– Verify all students in attendance have
registered for the course
• Use RMS to mark students as “Attended” and “Met
Requirements” accordingly. “Met Requirements”
includes a passing score on the post-test
Conduct Training, cont.• Follow testing instructions/procedures provided in Administrative
Package
• After “Attended” and “Met Req’s” have been marked, click the “Class
Complete” button in RMS
• If the Roster is not complete, click “Save” and send email notification
of class status
Paperwork/Certificates
• Trainers are responsible for testing, grading, and
verifying that each student has passed and met all
course requirements
• It is not a requirement to send test answer sheets
back to the CDP for verification
• Certificates will be available on Student Portal
approximately 1 week after trainer completes class
in RMS

75 Students or 6 Classes
Silver Level
