FRONT COVER In the Kerrang magazine they use darker backgrounds with a lighter vibrant font colour to stand out. This gives the magazine a dark theme and makes the reader believe it is indie natured.The magazines main image is of the band Biffy Clyro, a well known indie band. They use this image to draw attention to the magazine and help it sell. The image has the lead singer in front of the rest of the band. This could show his dominance and importance over everyone else. The way the band stare into the camera shows the focus on the magazine.The mast head on the magazine is on a bright background with black text. The font of the mast head reflects the edgy nature of the band with the scratched and damaged style.The band all wear black dark colours and blend into the background, but the front line man wears brighter colours, this can show his superiority over the others. White can mean purity, but the subline ‘unfold the puzzle of life’ suggests not.

this magazine has a large main image, the image is vibrant and stands out. The way the subject is stood makes it look like her hands are coming out the screen. This could symbolize her power.

The articles page numbers are in a vibrant red, this makes them stand out from the page. Also the yellow on black contrasting background makes the areas of the magazine stand out.

The box at the bottom right is designed to stand out from the rest of the page, they do this by using a darker background with a brighter vibrant colour to make it jump out at you.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREADThe Kerrang magazine use the large main image in the double page spread to attract peoples attention. The photo is mid shot, showing the waist and above. The character is looking into the camera, giving the impression the character is actually looking at the reader. The character is relaxed, and his surprised facial expression makes the reader want to read on.The large heading with contrasting background colours draws attention to the page. It also uses up space in the magazine making the reader think the spread is important and interesting. The tilted text reflects his posture with his tilted head. The white and pink text on dark background makes it stand out and looks professional and appealing to the reader.The lighting in the image is three point. This means the lighting is directed from three angles onto the subject, giving off a lighter and more pleasing image. The border of the lights also reflects this idea.
