INDIAN STREET FOOD

Street food is a food obtainable from a street side vendor, often from a makeshift or portable stall

Though we have a lot of street foods popular throughout the most parts of the country but we also have some regional street foods.

Lower in cost in comparison to restaurant meals.

They reflect the traditional local cultures with an endless variety.

Often available with their best tastes and flavour.

North Indian Street Food

Available with a huge variety from very spicy food items to very sweet items. They are :

Chole Bhature :Punjabi Dish.Famous in whole Northern and

Central India. Taken as breakfast, lunch as well as

dinner.

Contd.Aaloo Tikki :

o Most mouth-watering dish street food of India.

o Famous in whole India but comes with it’s original taste in Central and Eastern Uttar Pradesh including cities like Lucknow and Allahabad.

o Also a Royal Cuisines of Lucknow.

Litti Chokha : oTraditional Dish in Eastern UP, Bihar

And Jharkhand.oKnown for its simplicity and taste.oApart from being a now-a-days

Kachori :oOriginally belongs to the Royal

State of India – Rajasthan.oBikaneri Kachori is famous its own

taste in Northern India.oOther North Indian Street foods are

Bread Pakode, Aaloo Parathe, Pani Puri, Dahi Jalebi,lavang lata, Tunde kabab, Samose, Cutlets etc.

East Indian Street Foods

Known for its unique combination of Vegetarian, Non-Vegetarian, Spicy and Sweet foods. They are :

Fish Fry/Machh bhaja : oEaten as a snack in areas of West

Bengal, Orissa and Assam.oMade with different tastes and

flavours in each region.

oA West Bengal delicious snacks made by mixing puffed rice and chanachur.

oSometimes also prepared as a soup with tomato,pudina etc.

oGenerally served with Thonga (paper packets) or with bowl.

Central India Street FoodsThis section is going to include the

street foods from the regions of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. They are :

Poha Jalebi :oUnique combo of sweet and salty taste

in the “heart of India” Madhya Pradesh.

oServed with special items of sev, nukti and jalebi in Indore.

Vada Pav:oVery popular in Mumbai and

other regions of Maharashtra.

Includes the dishes from the states of AP, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana & Karnatka. They are :
