Message of National Delegate• Dear Friends,

• With immense joy I would like to greet you all, as we prepare to participate in the Asia-Oceania congress of Don Bosco Alumni at Bangkok. It is indeed a praise worthy initiative in view of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco, which we will celebrate in 2015.

• This event, offers us an opportunity to honour Don Bosco, our Father, Teacher and Guide. As we pay homage to him, we should recall his legacy that made an indelible impression on our minds, in our youthful years.

• This congress is a moment, to relive the nostalgic memories of the times, when we first heard about Don Bosco and we were moulded in his pedagogical methodology. Though years have gone by, our love for him and his spirit has moved us to come together in his name. Today we are grateful to him and to those have imparted to us the human, social and religious values, which we esteem and uphold staunchly as the Alumni of Don Bosco.

• We are being challenged today to permeate the values, imbibed in our early schooling days and later as members of the Don Bosco Alumni movement. As Don Bosco Alumni we are called to live with integrity, professional in our life occupation, live in social solidarity contributing to make a just and peaceful world, where every human person can live fully and in harmony.

• The inspiration of Don Bosco to harness and invest all the human resources in his times, to fulfil the mission for the young, gave rise to the movement of the Don Bosco Alumni along with other groups in the Salesian Family. This enterprise of Don Bosco is evermore relevant today in a context of the mission with young, which demands shared participatory involvement of all the groups of the Salesian family to influence the culture of the world of youth today and the world at large.

• We hope this congress will give a new impetus and vibrancy to the movement of Don Bosco Alumni in Asia-Oceania region and promote the mission of Don Bosco to be Good Citizens, as he envisaged.

• I congratulate the Don Bosco Alumni of Thailand, who have been the driving force to make this congress a reality. I wish them all the success and satisfaction in this endeavour.

• With good wishes,

Message of World Confederal Member & National President

My warmest greetings to all our Salesians and past pupils !

The Association in India has seen all round improvement in all the areas during the last few years-increase in membership, activities both in quality and quantity and involvement of past pupils in the helping the young and needy.

The attachment of the past pupils of India and their commitment to make the ideals of Don Bosco live on through their activities is excellent proof of the lasting influence of Don Bosco on past pupils in India.

As I prepare to bring out this report, it has been a huge learning experience for me.Going through photographs of the activities, one memorable and the most soul searching experience was the Pilgrimage of the Relic of Don Bosco in India. In every province the past pupils played a major role in welcoming Don Bosco. It brought back memories of the most "unforgettable days with Don Bosco" - as if spending time with Don Bosco himself !

We, the alumni, are called to make a difference.Let's resolve in the true spirit of our father and founder Don Bosco, to stand up to what we believe in and make a difference in our society, in our country and our world.

Yours in Don Bosco,

Rajiv Tikmany
