As the New Year dawns and we step in to the year ahead with hopes and aspirations, it would be

inescapable for us to look into the year that slipped out. A look back of the events that we were part

of bracing the positive outcomes, changing moves incrementally from moment to moment, allowing

for course-correction along the way. As the Officers of eldest member of PCA League among PSBs,

our sweat and toil throughout the year stood amply rewarded by posting the better financials.

The year 2018 proved to be the year of manifold challenges to the Bank officers who were on the

prowl. The year saw the long pending issues on HR front settled satisfactorily and witnessed the

realisation of the dream of Career Progression across all Grades. The pending issues of 2017 Viz.

Spouse Joining Transfers, Compassionate Transfers and Annual Transfer Exercise were also settled to

the maximum satisfaction in Y2K18. The Bank steadfastly adhered to the principles of "People first"

policy and the same ensured good performance of the Bank.

Encouraged by the TEAM-IOB, the Board of the Bank unveiled an ambitious plan of offering

18.24 crore of shares for purchase by the employees. Named, ESPS - 2018 (Employees Stock

Purchase Scheme - 2018), the shares are being offered at a premium but with a discount and the news

has been greeted with enthusiasm by rank and file. Days are not far off when we can proudly proclaim

that not only we owe the Bank but own the Bank.

AIBOC, our paternal Organisation, continued to hold aloft the lofty ideals and had been in the

forefront of the Bank Officers' Trade Union Movement and during the year had been in the vanguard of

many of the struggles. The high point in the struggles had been the withdrawal of the FRDI Bill, the

ill-conceived advertisement of Kalyan Jewellers and obtaining directions through writ petition from

Delhi High Court for nomination of Officer Director in the board of PSBs. The strike call of AIBOC on

21st December 2018 on issues related to salary revision had been a resounding success and

enthusiasm of the Officers of affiliates had been

unprecedented.

Our GS Com. B. Srinivasan demits office:

Com. B. Srinivasan, our General Secretary who had

assumed charge as General Secretary of our Organisation

on 1/9/2015 super-annuated from the service of the Bank

and laid down Office as General Secretary of IOBOA on 31st

December 2018.

We place on record our appreciation for the stellar role

played by Com.B. Srinivasan as our General Secretary from

the time he has taken the baton till his superannuation. A

little master in his own rights he took up the mantle of

responsibility of leading our organization in the most

difficult times. He admirably led our organization from the

front and took upon new challenges with rare gust and

determination and remained a great believer in TEAM

BUILDING. The impact of we being bereft of stalwarts was

managed deftly. Without being unnerved about the fast

emerging situation in our organization he seized upon the

opportunity and delivered his best by reaching out to

generation next in our fraternity. Affectionate as he is

always he galvanized and motivated Gen-Next in our

fraternity to take upon active roles in our organization. He

led the association admirably and took enormous pains to

ensure that it

s t a y e d o n

course and never strayed from its committed path of

protecting the hard won rights of our members. The

immaculate planning put in place and made the TEAM -

IOBOA perform at its peak and the 23rd Triennial

Conference became the envy of affiliates and is a tough

bench mark.

We can take pride in the irrefutable fact that during

the tenure of Com. B. Srinivasan it was able to achieve

many a milestone. To name a few, Uninterrupted

promotion process despite PCA, Enhancement &

Improvement in Staff Housing Loan, Staff Vehicle Loan,

DPN Loan / CC Limit, Promotion and Transfer Policy

rewritten with inclusive approach by the bank,

Payment of arrears on enhanced HRA & CCA to members

worked / working in branches as per 2011 Census and

proper interpretation of OSR Sec.20(3) III by ensuring

terminal benefits to members superannuated and

completed departmental enquiry. The icing on the cake

being the successful conduct of the year long

celebrations of our Organisation's Golden Jubilee and

presenting a memento to all members as on the date of

Golden Jubilee year, a first of its kind.

Com. B. Srinivasan is one of the finest and most

cultured leader who earned the most honourable

reputations as a

General Secretary with complete confidence in his own

ability and character.

Com. B. Srinivasan, combined a degree of gentleness,

courtesy and sense of duty which perfectly fitted him in

the envious league of our erstwhile tall leaders and he was

a fascinating type of leader, a pride to IOBOA.

His own ability and sterling character of unwaveringly

service to the

members has inevitably resulted in acquiring distinction,

which made him grew higher and higher in the hierarchy of

IOBOA and AIBOC. In AIBOC too he had his imprints as a

member of Sub-Committee on Salary Revision and played

a key role in the preparation of Charter of Demands.

Empathy and concern was his inherent character. He

never complained of work and others working with him

always found

his willingness a

peculiar convenience to them.

The most lamentable demit of Com. B. Srinivasan is

that he vacates a place in the highest rank of the next

living generations, which will not be easy to fill, but the

lamp of wisdom and stature which he has lit will remain

long to guide the footsteps of many a nomad in search of

the hidden secret of success to the officers’ fraternity.

Kudos to Com. B. Srinivasan who stood like a rock

behind TEAM IOBOA and carried out the task of serving

to members with aplomb. On behalf of every comrade

IOBOA wishes Com. B. Srinivasan a Happy, Healthy &

Peaceful Retired life.

A fitting farewell was organised to Com. B. Srinivasan

on the evening of 29th December 2018 at Chennai. He was

felicitated by Com. Sowmya Dutta, General Secretary -
