CONFERENCE THEME

PSG College of Technology, an ISO 9001:2015 certified institution

is one of the foremost institutions founded by the PSG & Sons'

Charities Trust (1926). The College was established in the year 1951.

The College has 15 engineering and technology departments. A

number of educational programmes are offered in Engineering,

Technology, Management and science at Bachelors, Masters, M.Phil,

MS, and Ph.D. levels on full time and part-time basis. PSG College of

Technology has collaborative arrangements with industries, research

organizations and universities abroad in various areas of research and

training apart from offering joint academic programmes.

The department of Apparel and Fashion Design was started in the

year 2014. The department offers a five year integrated programme

MSc Fashion Deign & Merchandising. The curriculum is designed to

prepare graduates with a solid understanding and expertise required

to enter professional practice in the challenging and competitive

fashion industry. This course is first of its kind, designed at the

university level with a unique blend of designing, production,

merchandising and management. After completing the course, the

students will be molded as “Complete Professionals” bestowed with

design competence and managerial acumen, enabling them to face the

industrial and managerial demands in the fashion arena.

The aim of this conference is to focus on fashion retailing trends in

India. The Indian fashion retail market has witnessed quite a few

interesting changes and challenges in recent years, which are

indicators of the country’s evolving fashion retail market. The

challenges associated with these changes need to be addressed in the

most resourceful and sensible manner in order to connect the

associated benefits. The Indian retail market is expected to

demonstrate a promising year - on - year growth to reach USD 865

billion, by 2023. The share of apparel in India’s retail market is 8%,

corresponding to a value of USD 40 billion. In addition to fashion

apparel, the growing demand for fashion accessories makes the Indian

fashion market both fascinating and profitable. Fashion apparel

retailing has seen tremendous changes in terms of distribution, supply

chain, manpower, sourcing, pricing, and technology. India is projected

to dominate the growth in the working-age population in the Asia

Pacific by 2050, becoming home to over a billion people eligible to enter

the job market.

This conference offers an interdisciplinary forum for the

presentation of advances in the areas of fashion retail and

management. The conference will bring together leading

academicians, researchers, retailers, consultants, designers, and

students.

The highlight of the conference is the theme show. The products

designed and developed by Apparel and Fashion Design students

based on the versatile ideas and a hybrid of functional requirements

will be exhibited.

Authors are invited to submit abstracts for oral and poster

presentations with a maximum of 300 words in the following areas
