     India’s own navigational system, the set-up for which was completed on

     Thursday with the launch of the seventh and nal satellite, will be called

    NAVI !Navigation with Indian onstellation", #rime $inister Narendra $odi

    announced after the launch%

     The seventh and nal satellite of the Indian &egional Navigation 'atellite

    'ystem, the I&N'' (), was launched into a sub geosynchronous transfer orbit

    with a perigree !nearest point to earth" of *+ m and an apogee !farthest

    point to earth" of *.,/01 m% The satellite was launched on board the #olar

    'atellite 2aunch Vehicle !#'2V", which too o3 from the 'rihariota launch

    pad at (*%0. p%m%

    4ith this launch, the I&N'' constellation of seven satellites is now complete%

     This will allow the Indian 'pace &esearch 5rganisation !I'&5" to focus on the

    process of designing front end chips which will receive the navigational

    signals sent out by the satellites% The system will be similar to the )lobal

    #ositioning 'ystem !)#'" operated by the 6nited 'tates with * satellites and

    the )lonass, )alileo and 7ei8ou systems of &ussia, 9urope and hina

    respectively%

    All satellites will undergo stabilisation testing and verication of their

    performance over the ne:t few months before being pushed into use,

    according to I'&5 o;cials%

    An area of (,0.. m from Indian boundaries will be covered under the

    navigational system% The #rime $inister invited other countries to mae use

    of this system as well%
