Variable camshaft timing optimizes the timing of the intake and exhaust valves during the combustion cycle. This lets the engine deliver performance tailored to the load applied, with increased power for brisk acceleration or times of high demand.

Charge motion control valves are specially shaped metal flaps at the intake port that speed up the airflow and create a tumble effect in the combustion chamber for excellent low-speed combustion.

Electronic Throttle Control translates accelerator motions and other inputs into control of engine power. The accelerator pedal controls the throttle by means of a computer-controlled stepping motor in lieu of a conventional linkage from pedal to throttle. It works by integrating throttle movements with the vehicle’s electronically controlled functions, such as cruise control or idle speed. It enhances control, driveability and performance. This feature is also known as “drive-by-wire.”

ExteriorBox Side Steps are located ahead of the rear wheel well and aid cargo area access from the side of the Styleside box. Not available on the 5.5-foot box.Tailgate Step provides an integrated step that folds down from the top of an open tailgate to allow an easier step up into the cargo bed. Stowable bed extender functions as a bed extender for the Styleside box with the tailgate down and a cargo enclosure with the tailgate up. Also stows inside the bed, allowing for functionality of the bed. Easy FuelTM capless fuel filler system eliminates the need for a fuel filler cap by allowing the fuel nozzle to directly insert into the filler. SecuriCodeTM Keyless Entry Keypad lets the driver unlock the doors by simply using the numbered keypad on the driver’s door and a programmable 5-digit code. Front-end Wheel Alignment and Headlamp AimFront-endwheelalignment(toe)andheadlampaimmayrequireadjustmentafterinstallationofequipment,andistheresponsibilityoftheequipmentinstaller.Failuretoresetfrontwheelalignmentmaycausepremature,uneventirewear.Ifrequired,resettochassismanufacturer’sspecificationsfoundintheFordShopManual.

Electrical ConnectionsInstallation of any inductive load devices (i.e., electric motors, electric clutches for clutch pumps, etc.) MUST NOT be connected to OEM wiring or fuse panels. Power for such devices should be taken directly from the battery or starter motor relay power terminal. Control of these devices should be achieved via relays. No direct current path should exist between OEM wiring and the installed load that is not filtered by the battery. These recommendations are intended to reduce or eliminate any induced reverse voltage into the OEM circuitry.
