Independent Multiple Samples in
Supply Chain Management
Applies to:
SAP PLM /QM Consultants, SAP ECC 6.0.
For more information, visit the Supply Chain Management homepage.
Summry
The user wants to create n number of samples one by one manually in Result Recording Screen, when the sample is rejected.
Each sample is independent and do not have any link with any samples created manually. Once the sample is accepted, the new sample can not be created.
Eg: Independent multiple sample procedure is used in Lamp Industries. In Lamp Industry, every hour 1500 to 2600 incandescent lamps are manufactured.
Similar industries, where huge quantity is produced, the independent multiple sample procedures can be used. Once the lot is rejected, 100 % inspection is carried out to eliminate the non conformities.

1. Process Flow
The process flow of “Independent Multiple Samples” is given below.
a) Inbound Process is Selected
b) Sampling Scheme - IND
Inspection severity 4 Normal inspection
AQL value 15.000
This sampling scheme is created by copying the standard one and values are changed as per requirement.
The above table must contain values for c1 and d1 only.
c2,d2 : c3,d3 : c4,d4 : c5,d5 : c6,d6 : and c7,d7 must be ZERO.
Depending upon the Inspection Lot size, the sample is calculated by the system automatically.
For ex. Lot Size 130, then the Sample is 8.
Lot Size 280, then the Sample is 13.
c) Material No. - 100-420

d) Create the Purchase order for the material 100-420
Purchase Order No.: 4500017438
Material Doc. No. (GR): 5000002734
Inspection Lot NO.: 3679
As the Inspection Lot qty. is 130, system automatically determines the sample size as 8. Ref. Sampling Scheme - IND

In INDEPENDENT MULTIPLE SAMPLE, the inspection lot has to be accepted or rejected.
As per the Table, for the sample size is 8.PCs. Out of 8 PCs, UPTO 3 PCs are the outside the range of spec., the lot is ACCEPTED..
Out of 8 PCs, 4 PCs / above 4 PCs are the outside the range of spec., the lot is rejected.
If System accepts the Insp. Lot and the lot is closed, the second sample can not be generated.
If System rejects the Inspection Lot, the Second Sample can be created.
In INDPENDENT MULTIPLE SAMPLE, the second and consecutive samples are to be created manually only.
If second sample is rejected, third sample can be created and so on.
As per the requirement of the user we can create any number of samples.
There is no limit.
For example, 4 samples are created and 4th Sample is accepted.
System will not allow creating the fifth sample.

Double click the “Short Text for the Insp. Char.” Field.
We get the “Record Results for 100-420: Single Values for Samples” Screen.
Now create a new sample.
We get the error message.
After closing the Insp. Char., creating a new sample is not permitted.

2. Master Data
a) Define the Sampling Scheme TC : QDP1
Any sampling scheme can be defined.
Better to copy to std. scheme and name it appropriately.
Only one sample is allowed.
C1, D1 MUST HAVE VALUES.
C2,D2 ; C3,D3 ; C4,D4 ; C5,D5 ; C6,D6 ; AND C7,D7 MUST BE ZERO.
For example Sampling Scheme IND is created.
Table of Inspection Severity 4 and AQL value 15, is selected and modified as per the requirement of user.
Values of C1, D1 are entered for various inspection lot qty.
Zero is entered for C2,D2 ; C3,D3 ; C4,D4 ; C5,D5 ; C6,D6 ; AND C7,D7

Hence the table contains the Sample Qty and C1 value and D1 Value for each and every inspection lot qty.
C2 to C7 and D2 to D7 values are zero.
This table contains exactly only one sample qty and its corresponding C1 and D1 values.

b) Create the Sampling Procedure - INDEPEND TC: QDV1.
Sampling Procedure and Sampling Scheme assignment details are given below.
Any Sampling Type can be defined.
100,200,300 and 400 are standard Sampling Types.
For this article, Sampling Type 300 – Use Sampling Scheme is used.
