CONNECTING WITH CANADIANS | THE PUSH TO FANS Executive Summary

The Academy’s new mantra of connecting with Canadians during the fiscal year (May 1, 2014 to April 30, 2015) was distinguished by a concerted effort to reach fans on all platforms. New outreach methods included a fresh interactive website, FanZone.Academy.ca, a special area reserved for fans on the CANADIAN SCREEN AWARDS’ Official Red Carpet, as well as the introduction of two new Academy Special Awards for ratings’ winners: the inaugural Golden Screen Awards for TV, which garnered a flurry of media attention. Our new international outreach included an inaugural Academy Legacy Award, presented to the Toronto International Film Festival, on the occasion of their 40th Anniversary, at our second annual Los Angeles event during awards’ season: Canada Stars.
