A Reading from the Second Book of Kings

One day Elisha came to Shunem, where there was a woman of influence, who urged him todine with her. Afterward, whenever he passed by, he used to stop there to dine. So she saidto her husband, "I know that Elisha is a holy man of God. Since he visits us often, let usarrange a little room on the roof and furnish it for him with a bed, table, chair, and lamp, sothat when he comes to us he can stay there." Sometime later Elisha arrived and stayed in theroom overnight. Later Elisha asked, "Can something be done for her?" His servant Gehazianswered, "Yes! She has no son, and her husband is getting on in years." Elisha said, "Callher."When the woman had been called and stood at the door, Elisha promised, "This timenext year you will be fondling a baby son." Lector: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.

The Confiteor

I confess to almighty Godand to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinnedin my thoughts and in my words,in what I have doneand in what I have failed to do, (And then striking your breast three times)through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;therefore, I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. Priest: Lord have mercy. People: Lord have mercy.Priest: Christ have mercy. People: Christ have mercy.Priest: Lord have mercy. People: Lord have mercy.*

A Reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans

Brothers and sisters: Are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesuswere baptized into his death? We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death,so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live innewness of life. If, then, we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him.We know that Christ, raised from the dead, dies no more; death no longer has power over him.As to his death, he died to sin once and for all; as to his life, he lives for God. Consequently,you too must think of yourselves as dead to sin and living for God in Christ Jesus. Lector: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to MatthewPeople: Glory to you, O Lord.

Jesus said to his apostles: "Whoever loves father or mother more than me is notworthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthyof me; and whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is notworthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life formy sake will find it. "Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receivesme receives the one who sent me. Whoever receives a prophet because he is aprophet will receive a prophet's reward, and whoever receives a righteous manbecause he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man's reward. Andwhoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drinkbecause the little one is a disciple—amen, I say to you, he will surely not losehis reward."

Priest: The Gospel of the Lord. People: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.

The Responsorial: For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord. (PS 89: 2-3, 16-17, 18-19)

Lector: Alleluia People Only: Alleluia (Stand)

Lector Only: You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation; announce the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.People Only: Alleluia

Priest: The Lord be with you. People: And with your spirit.

Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,

Maker of heaven and earth,

of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,

the Only Begotten Son of God,

born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made,

consubstantial with the Father;

through Him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation He came down

from heaven,At the words that follow, up to and including and became man, all bow

and by the Holy Spirit was Incarnate of the

Virgin Mary and became man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius

Pilate,

He suffered death and was buried,

and rose again on the third day

in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living

and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of

Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

Who with the Father and the Son is adored and

glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic

Church.

I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins

and I look forward to the resurrection of the

dead and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

Oh, with what bursts of fervent praise,

Thy goodness, Jesus, would I sing!

America

My country,' tis of thee,

sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;

land where my fathers died,

land of the pilgrims' pride,

from every mountainside let freedom ring!

My native country, thee,

land of the noble free, thy name I love;

I love thy rocks and rills,

thy woods and templed hills;

my heart with rapture thrills, like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,

and ring from all the trees sweet freedom's song;

let mortal tongues awake;

let all that breathe partake; let rocks their silence

break, the sound prolong.

Helping Hands: St. Peter’s Meal Ministry

Is someone in your family sick, recovering from surgery, or undergoing chemotherapy or

radiation treatment? Has your family recently faced a challenge or a crisis, such as a death or

divorce? If so, St. Peter’s Meal Ministry would like to help. Or, have you been thinking you’d like

to do something to help our parish, but your time is limited? If so, St. Peter’s Meal Ministry is

seeking new members. Whether you need help, or want to help, we welcome you! Here’s how

it works: When a need is identified, our coordinator reaches out to get key info (number of

people, food preferences, allergies, etc.) and enters this onto a password-protected secure

website titled “The Meal Train.” As members of the ministry, we get an e-mail notification, go to

the site, click on the date(s) we can help, and type in what we will bring. As a recipient of our

ministry, you can also go to the site, find out who is coming to your home next and what s/he is

bringing. If you’re not comfortable with the internet, no problem, we’ll talk by phone. The process is simple, but the

satisfaction of knowing we have touched a life/lives is immeasurable. Whether you need our help, or would like to join our

ministry to help others, please contact Margaret Greenly at [email protected]. Thanks, and God bless you!
