Today’s classrooms have so many more interactive technology devices that encourage student participation and lead to increased students’ interest and motivation to learn!

Technology Tools to Increase Students’ Motivation to Review Math

The second grade students at Happy Elementary School are going on a field trip. There are 42 students on the first bus and 39 students on the second bus. How many second graders are going on the field trip? Show your work!

While there is simply nothing exciting about this problem, having the math problem projected on the ActivBoard and giving the students blank paper to show their work seems to be very motivating to them. Who would’ve guessed?!! Karin Jones

Discovery Education is a phenomenal site that can be used to introduce or review many educational concepts with video clips and images. The students love it! We use it most often with Science and Social Studies concepts, but it addresses many areas. Karin Jones

Once you select the book you would like to listen to, you will see the many options available to you: listen to the book and/or choose an activity related to the story. What a fun way to get kids excited about books and reading! Many times listening to these stories has led my students to find these books in our library on a future trip! Karin Jones
