European Training Networks (ETN)

The largest share of the ITN call budget is made available for ETNs. These must be composed of at least three beneficiaries established in at least three different EU MS or AC. It is strongly recommended to keep the size of the consortium between 6 and 10 beneficiaries since experience under the Seventh Framework Programme has shown that this is a manageable size.

Example: Marie Curie – ITN Project ‘ForSeaDiscovery’ (07/2013) Ana Crespo Solana, Ins. Historia, CCHS, CSIC. ForSeaDiscovery In the Early Modern Age, the construction of ocean-going ships was paramount to the development of cultural encounters in what became the Age of Discovery and European expansion. In the case of the Iberian Empires, the establishment of new trade routes brought up the need for armed merchantmen, galleons and smaller vessels, placing unprecedented demands on Iberian forests for the supply of construction timber. Forestry and sea power became inextricably linked, creating new geopolitical tensions, alliances and forest regulations. Key questions in the context are: could Iberian forest resources sustain the increasing demand of sound timber, or was the wood imported from elsewhere? If so, how were the trade networks organized? And did the lack of raw material force the technological changes occurred in shipbuilding in the 16th century, or were they a result of exchange between Mediterranean and Atlantic shipbuilding traditions? This project will address these questions through a multidisciplinary and innovative training research program to improve the understanding of our historical past, our cultural heritage, and our knowledge of the use of resources for shipbuilding.

RISE - Research and Innovation Staff Exchanges Programas para estancias de grupos de investigación entre países, y celebración de workshops. Antesala de solicitud de una ITN. Tema libre.

IEF – Intra European Fellowships Financiación para doctores que no vivan en el país que los recibe, por 2 años, para realizar una investigación (similar a RyC en España).

Objective: The RISE scheme will promote international and inter-sector collaboration through research and innovation staff exchanges, and sharing of knowledge and ideas from research to market (and vice-versa) for the advancement of science and the development of innovation. The scheme fosters a shared culture of research and innovation that welcomes and rewards creativity and entrepreneurship and helps to turn creative ideas into innovative products, services or processes. Scope: RISE involves organisations from the academic and non-academic sectors (in particular SMEs), based in Europe (EU Member States and Associated Countries) and outside Europe (third countries). Support is provided for the development of partnerships in the form of joint research and innovation activities between the participants. This is aimed at knowledge sharing via international as well as inter-sectoral mobility, based on two-way secondments of research and innovation staff (exchanges) with an in-built return mechanism.

RISE - Research and Innovation Staff Exchanges

The proposed research and innovation activities should exploit complementary competences of the participants, as well as other synergies, and enable networking activities, organisation of workshops and conferences to facilitate sharing of knowledge, new skills acquisition and career development for research and innovation staff members. Activities can focus either on one dimension of mobility (intersectoral / international), or include a combination of both. Exchanges can be for both early-stage and experienced researchers' levels and can also include administrative, managerial and technical staff supporting the research and innovation activities of the proposal. Support for the exchanges between institutions in the EU Member States and Associated Countries covers only inter-sectoral secondments. Exchanges with institutions from third countries can be inter-sectoral secondments as well as secondments within the same sector. No secondments between institutions located in third countries or within the same EU Member State or Associated Country can be supported.

6.-Sociedades inclusivas, innovadoras y reflexivas. CALL 3 – SOCIEDADES REFLEXIVAS: PATRIMONIO CULTURAL E IDENTIDADES EUROPEAS

- Sociedades reflexivas, mayor conocimiento del patrimonio cultural, de la historia de países y regiones europeas, del papel de Europa en el mundo (contemporáneo e histórico) - Europa debe desarrollar mayor conocimiento sobre su patrimonio cultural y sobre su identidad, para favorecer la cohesión y solidaridad europea, así como estimular visiones modernas y usos sobre su pasado. - En esta convocatoria 2014/2014, los temas se centran en:

– Patrimonio Cultural/Formación de la Identidad/Formación del Legado Intelectual, Artístico, Creativo e Histórico

Acciones ERA-NET. Consisten en la formación de redes europeas, compuestas por los organismos que financian la investigación (normalmente, ministerios o autoridades regionales que diseñan los programas de financiación) o gestores de programas (como agencias de investigación, institutos, fundaciones...). Con estas acciones, las autoridades nacionales de los diversos países coordinan los programas de investigación a nivel europeo.

Convocatorias de proyectos de las ERA-NET Las ERA-NET publican convocatorias transnacionales para proyectos de investigación colaborativos en las que se pueden presentar los organismos localizados en los países participantes. Hay que consultar las características de cada convocatoria en los documentos publicados por la ERA-NET y, en su caso, por el organismo español participante.

Total Call Budget €9,000,000 Specific challenge: European societies bring with them opportunities for a more united Europe but also risks and challenges. These dynamics, debates and developments typically mobilise versions of “the past” to legitimise their various arguments and actions; traditional historical interpretations and prejudices resurface, cultural memories and inheritances are contested. History – or rather what we make of it – thus determines our conceptual frameworks, our present actions, and influences our building of the future on political, economic, cultural as well as individual levels. Scope: The topics for this proposed programme focus on a variety of problems and perspectives concerning the uses of the past and consider the impact and possible repercussions of these issues for Europe and the wider world.

Expected impact: The proposed research programme on uses of the past will contribute to Europe’s intellectual framework by giving insights into the forces shaping the social, cultural and political transformation in Europe today.

COST: European Cooperation in Science and Technology. (Convenio COST de 1971)

Objetivo: fortalecer la capacidad de competir de los investigadores europeos, financiando la creación de redes de investigación.

propuestas ‘bottom-up’ o ‘topic free’, la idea y temática de la Red COST será propuesta por los investigadores participantes, incluyendo actividades de investigación tales como: meetings, short-term scientific stays, training schools, dissemination, publications.

¿Las sociedades científicas pueden colaborar en la obtención de financiación europea?

Convocatorias altamente competitivas en lo técnico y político (lobbies en Bruselas)

Opciones para SISEM y FEHM

- Liderar o promover una propuesta o formando parte de un consorcio internacional… y tener éxito.

- Para liderar como institución hay que registrarse ante la UE, con auditorías y presentación de documentación legal y fiscal.

- Se necesita capacidad empresarial para la gestión económica y administrativa para justificar las inversiones.

Opciones para SISEM y FEHM (continuación)

- Elección y compleja redacción del proyecto ¿Responsable-s?

- Selección del equipo que lidere la propuesta, y acuerdos sobre cómo distribuir el trabajo y la financiación.

- Se podrían buscar alianzas con instituciones académicas o de investigación para participar, pues será difícil que un profesor o investigador participe en un proyecto europeo en nombre de una sociedad científica y no por la institución a la que pertenece.

- Presionar a las autoridades del Ministerio en la financiación dependiente de ellos (ERANET).

- Objetivo básico de esta iniciativa: conseguir apoyo para las carreras de investigadores jóvenes, que sean el relevo de la profesión en un ambiente complicado en el mundo universitario y para la Historia en general.

Otras posibilidades

- Participación de la SISEM y la FEHM, junto a otras sociedades de historiadores en proyectos promovidos por terceros.

- Ofrecer desde las sociedades científicas información a los investigadores interesados en concurrir a los proyectos europeos, con este perfil:

- - Recopilar información de proyectos realizados y en marcha, relativos al área de Historia Moderna.

- - Solicitar a los investigadores con experiencia en proyectos europeos (con éxito y sin éxito), que informen a los interesados en presentar propuestas.

- - Solicitar a los que han actuado de evaluadores de proyectos que comenten sus experiencias.

- Participación democrática de los socios y benefactores de las sociedades científicas participantes en estas iniciativas: esperamos sugerencias, para tomar las decisiones más positivas para la mayor cantidad posible de personas interesadas.

- Aunque hay informaciones accesibles parcialmente, no conocemos con exactitud el grado de cooperación de los modernistas italianos y españoles, y de otros países (Portugal, Francia, Alemania, Gran Bretaña…) en proyectos nacionales e internacionales. Convendría hacer un estudio y seguimiento.

- Problemas comunes: evaluación académica, impacto de las publicaciones (bibliometría), programas conjuntos de posgrado y máster…

- Creación de una comisión permanente SISEM-FEHM para el seguimiento de las decisiones acordadas.
