  • Notes Scarf is knit in the round Cast on loosely using Long Tail method or use your favorite stretchy cast on method Use a minimum of 70 yards or more for each ribbing end of scarf Use an assortment of colors between 20 yards (minimum) and 70 yards or more in length for colorwork rings Work random color stripes anywhere from .75 to 2.75 inches deep Abbreviations K = Knit P = Purl SM = stitch marker ST(S) = stitch(es) Instructions: First Ribbing: With smaller needles and at least 70 yards of first color, cast on 104 stitches using Long Tail or your favorite stretchy cast on method. Join to work in the round, be careful not to twist stitches. Place unique SM to mark beginning of round (keep this marker on your needle until cast off). Ribbing Round 1: K2, *P4, K4, repeat from * to last 6 stitches, P4, K2 Repeat Ribbing Round until work measures 4 inches. Switch to larger needles and K two rounds. Proceed to Main Scarf Section. Main Scarf Section: With new color proceed as follows: Round 1: Slip SM, with new color, K to end of round Round 2: Slip SM, pick up right leg of stitch below first stitch of next round, place on left needle and with new color, knit together with first stitch, knit to end of round Continuing knitting complete rounds until it is time to change colors. Repeat from Main Scarf Section with each new color as indicated in the color legend. You may also use various lengths of different colors to knit stripes that are between .75 inches to 2.75 inches. Last Ribbing: With last ribbing color, K two rounds. Switch to smaller needles and work ribbing as follows: Ribbing Round 1: K2, *P4, K4, repeat from * to last 6 stitches, P4, K2 Repeat Ribbing Round until ribbing measures 4 inches. Cast off in rib.
