The October 20th garage tour hosted by Laurie and Lorren Loe-wen was attended by approximately 30 members. Everyone enjoyed good weather, music, conversation, food and beverages. Bryan Haverkorn, manager of Buffalo Hot Wings and a club member, catered the evening with salads, hot wings and several varieties of sauces from mild to extremely hot. Dessert was Laurie's chocolate brownies. The only discouraging part of the evening was Alec Castrejon's attempt to beat his record of eating 27 wings by falling a little short. Since having Bryan in the club it was very convenient to arrange catering so, does anyone know a beer distributor with a corvette?

Auto-x held by joint venture of DCA and TORCA. This is probably the second most favorite auto-x event of the year (the go-kart being the best, perhaps). The popularity is easily represented by

the large attendance with 30 folks working/attending from 6 different clubs. The 30 doesn’t include the ½ dozen or so metal cars, but does in-clude the 12 of our very own CSCC – wow. Walt, YRH, Tom, David, Jim, Don, Lorren, Barb, Shauna, Anne, Vicky, and Laurie were in attendance. It is a large track (close to two miles?), so each of us participating had a couple of parade laps to become familiar with the course. After-wards, there was a bit of trouble with the timing equipment, but, it was eventually resolved by replacing with older “well known” equip-ment. There were 3 runs in the morning and 3 more were offered in the afternoon, with CSCC taking home 179 club points – woooooooooohoooooooo! Shauna took home the Ladies traveling award, and Lorren took the men’s traveling award, although the “Blue Devil” didn’t want to give it up . Lorren and Shauna get to keep the awards ALL WINTER LONG. Con-gratulations Lorren and Shauna. Typical for CSCC trip was a mechanical problem – Walt lost a clutch. And in true CSCC fashion, we pushed the car onto a trailer, and Walt was able to take “Lil Red” to Rik’s that evening. This is the last of two auto-x of the, roughly, 43 auto-x we had this season. It was a glorious end to a wonderful year. I would like to thank all of the Chairpersons, Governors, and workers for putting on these events. I hope you all had as much fun as I did. YRH

CHRISTMAS EVE THING By Jim "strat" Rowan

"Twas the night before Christmas, and in the garage There wasn't a trace of a Ford or a Dodge The lights were all lit So I figured I'd mess with the Vette for a bit I popped the release and I lifted the hood When a deep voice behind me said, "Looks pretty good". Well, as you can imagine, I turned mighty quick And there by the workbench, stood good ol' Saint Nick! We stood there a bit, not too sure what to say Then he said "Don't suppose that you'd trade that Vette for my sleigh?" I replied, "No way, Santa" and started to grin "But if you've got the time we could go for a spin!" His round little mouth, all tied up like a bow, Turned into a smile and he said, "Hey!, Let's go!!" So as not to disturb all the neighbors retreat We pushed the Vette quietly in to the street Then taking our places to drift down the hill, I turned on the key and I let the clutch spill The sound that erupted took him by surprise But he liked it a *lot*, by the look in his eyes. With Goodyears a 'cryin' and side pipes aglow, We headed out where the hot rodders go. And Santa's grin widened, approaching his ears..... With every shift up as I went through the gears. Then he yelled, "Can't recall when I've felt so alive!" So I backed off the gas and asked "You wanna drive?" Ol' Santa was stunned when I gave him the keys When he walked past the headlights, he shook at the knees! The big block exploded with side exhaust sound! Santa let out the clutch and the tires shook the ground! Power shift into second, again into third! I sat there just watching, at a loss of a word. Then I heard him exclaim, as he blasted from sight… MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, IT'S ONE HECK OF A NIGHT!!!"

THE GOVERNOR’S CORNER Howdy, As your new governor, I am pleased to represent you at the National and Re-gional level. This reminds me of when I first joined. I was pretty confused at first. I was pretty lost with all of the new technical sounding terms such as Sanctioned, Regional, Rallye, etc. It is my intent to post a monthly article, the “Governor’s Corner” that will try to explain, in Wayne-arian terms, some of these things. In addition, I’ll try to share what’s changing in NCCC, and in RMR that affects you. A daunting task. I’d like to begin with “what’s a Governor”. That’s the person that represents the club’s desires at the National and Regional level in the NCCC organization. CSCC is part of the NCCC organization for several reasons, but a couple are: NCCC provides insur-ance making it easier to rent or use properties for Auto-x, Rallye’s, Car Shows, etc.; and NCCC provides an infrastructure in which CSCC folks can complete with other folks in the Region or Nationally. Our region, the Rocky Mountain Region (RMR), comprises of 13 Corvette clubs in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Utah, most of which are in Colora-do. CSCC is the largest in the Region. A Governor’s job is also the avenue for NCCC to share information, affect policies and to try to administer its policies. Events are either NCCC endorsed (also known as Sanctioned), or not. The car show that Winnie and Team put on at Pagosa Springs, and the Club Picnic that Pete and Team organized are examples of non-sanctioned events – denoted in our calendar as “(NS)”. Competing/attending these kinds of events (while lots of fun) does not result in NCCC awarding Championship points.

Championship points can be broken down into three categories: points award-

ed to competitors; points awarded to a Club for hosting an event; and lastly points awarded to a Club by having its competitors attend/work an event.

First, and most fun, are Championship points awarded competitors. Each time

you participate in a sanctioned event, you are awarded points. Sometimes you are awarded additional Championship points for traveling to the event (because it is far away, like Casper Wyoming), or awarded Championship points because you helped put on the events (like working on a Rally, or Chairing a car show). Most of the time, you are award-ed points on how well you compete – how clean/good-looking your car is (like Larry L, Laurie L, and Mike B to name a few), or how well you figured out the Rallye (like Rik and Florece), or how quickly you traverse a race course (like Shauna, or Lorren). The points you are awarded are tallied and sorted. The top 15 regional competitors are recognized by being assigned a number that represents their ranking (the 5th place competitor is award the number “5” for racing events). For the last two years, CSCC has had the men’s top competitor – Walt in 2009, and Rik in 2010.

Club points are little more complicated, and sharing those details offer little

reward. Let me just point out that Sanctioned events are recognized either Nationally, or Regionally, or both. Next month, I’ll try to cover what a Rallye is all about. If you have suggestions for future articles, or questions, please send e-mail to [email protected]. Wayne – CSCC Gov. Disclaimer: the views provided are those of Wayne Umland, and not those of CSCC, nor those of NCCC.

A review of the Bylaws and Standing Rules and General Policies generated an action

for me. That action is to ask club members to present their charity suggestions to the

Board, before going to the members. Per the Standing Rules, that requirement exists so

the Board can perform an initial review of suggested charities, and so that any presenta-

tion of information is consistent. While that may make sense, it was noted that we need

to add some clarity to the Standing Rules if that's what is desired, because right now,

that desire is not real clear. (But that's a totally separate action that will be taken by the

club/Board.)

Additional discussion left us with a couple thoughts and suggestions for you and Anne

to consider.

1. Changes to Bylaws. Based on the understanding of your email, it does not appear

you nor Anne need to propose any changes to the Bylaws.

Depending on your exact desire, items 2 or 3 below offer guidance on actions you may

wish to take.

2. The Standing Rules, Section 1.0, Paragraph D, (which provides current guidance on

"The Primary Club Charity") does not need to be changed to have a vote for your idea/

recommendation to be considered, if just being considered for the 2012 charity. You

obviously have provided the information/suggestion, so your recommendation will be

added to the list of charities to be evaluated. Then, as currrently stated in the Standing

Rules, motions for (and voting for the charity selection) will occur at the January meet-

ing.

3. If you wish to change the Standing Rules and General Policies so that the Club no

longer has an option to review other charities, and only dedicates itself to the Christmas

basket fund (as our charity effort), you need to draft and explain your exact proposed

changes to the Standing Rules and General Policies. Your proposed changes can be

accomplished at any business meeting, and I just ask that you let me know if that's your

plan for this next meeting, so I can add it to the agenda.

As a reminder, if a change is proposed to the Standing Rules and General Policies, and

the change is approved by the membership, the changes occur immediately.

If any of this is unclear, or the summary of options does not address your desires,

please call me or send a clarification email to the Board members included on the Cc

line.

Projected NCCC/CSCC Events

For 2012

50th Anniversary Report "Larry Valentine reported that the 50th Anniversary celebration is scheduled for Saturday September 15, 2012. It will be a combined event with the annu-al dealer appreciation car show. The combined shows will provide Daniels Long Chevrolet the opportunity to capitalize on the media exposure for them through the car show, the Club's 50th anniversary, and Daniel's 50 years of sponsorship. Their sponsorship dollars can more effectively be used, allow-ing for support for the anniversary banquet. The banquet will be open to current club members and special invited guests. Cost is expected to run between $30 - $40 per person. Final ar-rangements are yet to be made, but the proposed location for the banquet is the Moose Lodge event center located at the Cheyenne Zoo. The car show will run until approximately 2:00 pm, with the banquet starting at 6:30 pm. Specifics regarding the car show will be announced later, but preliminary plans are for a People's Choice only "all chevys" car show. Stephen Hobbs has graciously volunteered to chair the event
