This is the first thing the audience will see of the trailer. It shows the company that produced the film, and the fact that ‘presents’ is not aligned with ‘franklin films ltd’ gives it a informal, indie feel. The black background and white writing is simple and not fussy, to mirror the view of the company. This over the shoulder shot shows a woman looking at a photo album of her memories. This shot is here to show that the film is about looking back, and has a theme of nostalgia.

The audience should wonder who the people in the pictures are, and why the woman is looking at them.

In this close up shot I was trying to show the audience the emotion of the woman. She is remembering her past, and by the looks of her face she is thinking about a particular memory. She doesn’t give much away as to how she is feeling.

This is an eye-line match, and shows that she is looking at this particular picture. The picture is of a teenage girl and boy, who are in a relationship.

There is then a fade to this mid shot of 5 friends (and a dog). This is in the past, and they are sat in a field obviously having a good time. This shot establishes the characters and their place within the group. The boy on the right isn’t involved in the group as much as the others, what does this mean?

There is then a moment of black. As the music escalates to its climax, a shot of the couple kissing is seen. This shows a key theme of the film – love.

This shot shows the other boy of the group looking at the couple. This shows that he is jealous of their relationship.

This begins as an over the shoulder tracking shot and ends as a high angled shot of the two friends sharing a secret. The audience assumes that it is related to the forming love triangle.

This tilt shows the boy’s emotion – he’s heart broken. This shot is intended to make the audience feel sorry for him; the target audience is 15+ girls and women and this character will appeal to them.

This title shows a key theme within the film. It appears with the beat of the music.

This is another key theme, and also appears with the beat of the music.

Here, the audience sees the other side to the film. The characters are dancers, trying to become famous. The mis-en-scene here is a stage with lights. There isn’t anyone in the audience – to show that the characters aren’t famous yet. The leap is in time with the music.

This is the same as the shot before, the dancers land on the floor with the beat of the music.

This bird’s eye view shot shows the boy punching a wall in anger. The audience doesn’t see his face, and the busy mis-en-scene implies that he is in a secret place. This shot brings the audience back to the main body of the plot.

This shot highlights the ambition theme, they are bowing but there is no audience. I like the silhouette effect achieved here.

This shot, seen after the title and tagline, again shows the theme of unrequited love.

This is the final shot. It is an over the shoulder, high angle shot showing the woman from the start of the trailer closing her album angrily, with a finalizing diagetic sound of the album closing. This rounds off the trailer, and reminds the audience that the film is set in the past.

Overall, I think my trailer follows the conventions of a teaser; it gives an idea of what the film is about without giving too much away – the audience leave wanting to know what happens in the end.
