The company of Dr.-Ing. Max Schlötter GmbH & Co. KG is located in the Southern German town of Geislingen/Steige and is one of the leading suppliers for electroplating and sur-face finishing. Our core competencies are in the fields of process development, manufac-turing of specialized chemical products and the design & construction of plants for elec-troplating and related surface treatment processes. Since the inception of our com-pany in the year 1912, we have always had a clear goal in our eyes: We develop proces-ses to generate surfaces which give your product specific properties - whether it is corrosion protection, optical characteristics, conductivity or wear resistance. Specialized processes developed by Schlötter improve these and other properties significantly or indeed achieve them for the first time. The high stability of our processes guarantees that the desired coatings are reproducible.

Only he who does research, that is, investi-gates systematically and scientifically for new insights, is in a position to develop ideas and visions for the future and as a result offer timely solutions for new challenges.

Optimize what exists - create innovations. We consider it both a challenge and an ob-ligation to develop continuously new ideas for processes and products of the future and thereby to safeguard the success of your company. In order to meet these high aspi-rations, we have continuously expanded our research department. Today, about one quarter of our employees work in our re-search laboratories, developing new proces-ses and continuously improving existing ones. These engagements have led to the filing of several technical patents and the introduction of new electroplating systems to the market.

As a supplier in the field of electroplating, our range of products covers the broad spec-trum of functional and decorative electro-plating. Our portfolio for the areas of corro-sion protection, wear resistance, decorative coatings, electrical components and printed circuit boards consists of about 750 diffe-rent products.

In addition to the classical electroplating technology, we also offer different related processes, such as electroless coating pro-cesses, a series of dipping processes or the pre-treatment processes connected to them. Coatings thus obtained comply with impor-tant technical functions and others are focused on visual attractiveness.

11

Pre-treatmentPre-treatment is a fundamental process to every type of surface treatment. For any electroplating process to succeed, the base material must be absolutely free from oil, grease and oxides. Mechanical pre-treat-ment, such as sand blasting, grinding or polishing is always followed by chemical cleaning through degreasing and etching, often supported by electrolysis and ultra-sonic treatment.
