Meet a few of our partners.Bell has been an innovation leader in Québec and throughout Canada since our company was founded here in Montréal in 1880.

This is reflected in some key announcements we’ve made in recent months including the upcoming launch of our LTE-M network to support advances in Internet of Things applications, and the unveiling of our new Alt TV service for Fibe Internet customers that lets you watch full live broadcast TV without the need for a traditional TV receiver.

In March, Bell announced an $854 million investment to expand fibre to the home (FTTH) to a total of 1.1 million homes and businesses in Montréal. This major infrastructure project is supporting 2,700 new jobs and creating $2.2 billion in overall economic benefits in Québec.

Driven by our focus on service innovation, Bell works with small and medium technology businesses of all kind to design better products, offer customers unparalleled service and improve our efficiency. Beside, you can meet some of our partners in Québec and learn about the unique solutions we’ve developed together.

1 Pierre Trudel | President, TRJ Télécom

TRJ Télécom is supporting the deployment of Bell’s fibre optic network in Montréal, Toronto and other cities.

“Bell’s ambitious objectives meant we had to consider ways of boosting our efficiency, which led us to develop an aero-excavation tool. In addition to preventing damage that’s always possible during excavation work, this machine facilitates working in hard to reach areas.”

2 Albert Dang-Vu | President and CEO, Mirego

Mirego developed our Fibe TV and iHeartRadio apps and continues to enhance them.

“Our partnership with Bell is highly strategic because it supports a better customer experience while enriching our expertise in applications development. Two companies working together to build a better product and a stronger customer relationship – fantastic!”

3 Louis Tremblay | President and CEO, AddÉnergie

Bell helped deploy the technology infrastructure for AddÉnergie’s network of electric vehicle charging stations.

“We needed a key partner that could enable us to connect our charging stations. We have a very close partnership with Bell built on shared technological expertise.”

4 Marc-André Gilbert | Partner and Producer, 1one Production

1one Production collaborates with Bell on virtual reality events and videos.

“By embracing the technology with confidence Bell has done exceptional groundwork in making virtual reality accessible.”

5 Pierre-Mathieu Roy | President, Loki Box Design

Using repurposed shipping containers, Loki Box built the Bell Pavilion to showcase our services at major events like Festival d’été de Québec.

“We are a relatively young company and Bell was our first client. We’re proud to partner with a company eager to showcase its product advancements in such an innovative way.”

6 François Baron | President, Cafection

Bell worked with Cafection to develop an Internet of Things application to remotely monitor its network of office coffee machines in real time.

“Our partnership with Bell lends credibility to our coffee machines. People trust the service because it is supported by the Bell network.”

New In Touch website coming soonOnline pension audit form to return in 2018.

In May, we took the In Touch website offline as a security precaution after learning that an anonymous hacker had targeted some Bell systems. Bell worked closely with law enforcement to investigate the situation and contacted all customers affected.

The investigation found no indication that any information on the In Touch site was accessed. However, we are moving In Touch to a new server as part of Bell’s enhanced online security and are also taking the opportunity to update the design. Until the new In Touch launches, a temporary version of the site is available at InTouch.Bell.ca.

Pension Audit Online Access Form

The Pension Audit Online Access Form was also shut down as a security precaution. If you received a letter in May to participate in this year’s audit, please mail the completed form to:

For the past 15 years, Nicole Côté has been spending a lot of time at pools without ever getting wet. While she is an athletic person, Nicole isn’t particularly fond of water. Her long-time favourite sport is actually downhill skiing. “I was a ski instructor for many years,” she notes.

It was her granddaughter, Cassidy-Nora, who introduced her to the world of diving. “I started taking her to the pool when she was 2 years old,” explains Nicole, who lives in Montréal’s West Island area. “That was shortly before I retired from my job with Bell Mobility as a client representative. Cassidy-Nora was so fascinated by the diving board that she wanted to jump off it before she even learned how to swim.”

From spectator to judge

At age 5, Cassidy-Nora qualified as a member of the Pointe-Claire diving team and shortly after that Nicole decided to take the training to become a judge. “Instead of going with my granddaughter to the pool and doing nothing, I figured I could combine the useful with the enjoyable.”

Training to become a judge, a voluntary position, is rigorous. In addition to learning theory, trainees shadow other judges to improve their skills. This involves

sitting next to a colleague judging a competition, watching the same dives and then comparing notes. “It all happens very quickly,” says Nicole, who is now a senior judge on the Québec circuit. “You need to stay alert and have a keen eye.”

Seeing future champions in action

Cassidy-Nora, who won several medals as a diver, now works as a flight attendant. “Even though my granddaughter no longer competes, I’m still involved in diving because I love it!” enthuses Nicole. “It’s exciting to see young divers improve from one competition to the next. I’ve had the chance to witness the development of some of Canada’s best divers including Émilie Heymans, Roseline Filion, Meaghan Benfeito, Jennifer Abel and François Imbeau-Dulac.”

So has watching young people dive inspired Nicole to try it herself? “I’ve never dived, but I’ve jumped from the 3 metre board twice,” she explains. “I was terrified, especially when I wound up at the bottom of the pool. That was enough for me!”

Nicole has very fond memories of serving as a judge at the Québec Games, which were held in her home town of Alma in February. “The atmosphere was extraordinary.”

During the Games, she was recognized for her long commitment to Plongeon Québec. “It really meant a lot to me,” she acknowledges.

It’s the camaraderie that brings out Loretta Didzbalis season after season to manage and keep score for the T-Ballers, a local women’s slowpitch team. “I’ve really gotten close with the team,” said Loretta, who worked in expense management at Bell for 32 years.

Young moms make up the majority of the T-Ballers and Loretta sees how being part of the team brings more benefits than just exercise. “It gets them out of the house and meeting new people. It gives moms a chance to have an adult conversation,” Loretta said, adding that some are on maternity leave. “For single moms,

it gives them a change of pace. If they bring the kids, usually there’s someone to help watch them.”

Getting together every spring is like a reunion. “For a lot of the teams, it’s the same ladies every year,” said Loretta, who has been with the T-Ballers for about 8 years. “Sometimes there’s so much conversation we forget who’s up at bat next!” Loretta has also worked to hone her slowpitch knowledge over the years, monitoring the capabilities of opposing teams and offering game advice and encouragement to T-Ballers on the field.

It’s a family affair

Loretta’s daughter Lori, 33, is a member of the T-Ballers and her son Ryan, 31, plays on another team. She has watched them grow up on softball diamonds. “I rarely miss any games. It keeps me involved with what they are interested in and I enjoy that.”

Loretta also keeps score for her son’s mixed slowpitch team and another team that her daughter plays on for weekend tournaments. Her sister, Rita Roy, also a Bell retiree, is involved with the team too, updating schedules and helping get the field ready on game day.

The importance of being a volunteer

Loretta also serves coffee and tea every morning, 7 days a week, at a nearby nursing home and volunteers at a seniors’ centre. She enjoys taking the time to hear people’s news and find out how they’re feeling. “I’ve always been one to get up early. I might as well be productive and do something that’s helping somebody.”

When people ask Loretta how she knows so many people, she points to the many friendships she has developed through her volunteer work and invites others to join in. “Every little bit helps. There’s a lack of volunteers out there to help out.”

Thank you to all Bell team members who supported the Walk So Kids Can Talk and contributed to the more than $3.5 million in donations to Kids Help Phone from people across the country.

Bell teams stepped up for youth mental health by participating in local walks, making donations and organizing grassroots fundraisers like chili lunches, silent auctions, card tournaments and sports challenges.
