Head’s Lines S F Many thanks to Jane Manning and her helpers and to our home maintenance team for a really enjoyable Fair last Saturday. Thanks also to the many parents, friends and Old Rose Hillians who supported it and to Jerry and his team for the delicious cricket tea.

Sports Day—Saturday 27th June 2015

All Prep School children should register in their House area by 9.30am on Saturday. Please wear clean white PE kit. It would also be advisable to bring water to sip throughout the morning (no fizzy drinks) and a hat to wear when not in the shade.

. P / R H C . All pupils will be in at least 2 events ‐ a graded sprint and a relay for your houses. If you have qualified for other events you will need to check the ming on the programme. Make sure you report to your House area where you are to remain throughout the morning to support the others members of your House. (You don’t watch with your parents). Make sure you know when your event is taking place and listen to the announcements very carefully. Heats and Finals lists will be posted on the pavilion wall. Please double check your events. If you cannot see your name anywhere please tell Mr Fung‐On immediately. The first races start at 10.00am. Reminders: 1. There are two young visitors races for boys and girls under 10 (Pre‐Prep children may enter these)

Sorry, we cannot allow children to run if they need to be accompanied (Health and Safety) 2. There is a champagne challenge for any two adults to run a sack race for a bo le of champagne

Next Tuesday, 30th June 2015 Rose Hill will once again ‘Go French’ for the day

The Franco‐frolics will start early with Year 8 Prefects running a mobile bureau de change in the Quad before registra on for children wishing to convert their £1.00 into a euro! Prep school break will be extended as pupils order (in French) a pain au chocolat and ‘un diabolo’ from one of the highly trained Year 6 French waiters / waitresses, at this year’s in the Quad. Kindergarten and Recep on pupils will be treated to a small pain au chocolat on the field adjacent to the Coventry Astro. Years 1 and 2 will be served by the Year 6 waiters on the field adjacent to the Upper play area and following lunch they will be treated to une glace à la fraise in the Café. Light‐hearted entertainment will be provided on the café periphery ‐ Year 6 street entertainers and buskers will be joined by Y7 & 8 caricature ar sts. The ar sts will be sketching those pupils brave enough to under‐take a very public si ng! Throughout the day staff will enter into the spirit of the occasion by giving a French flavour to their lessons. At lunch me the children will be treated to some super French delicacies – see the menu on the previous page. Each table will also feature a menu designed and produced by a Year 3 or 4 pupil. The menus will be judged by Mrs Moore and Mr Draper with awards going to the best four. On the day, all children should wear smart, casual dress with at least one of the tricolour colours: bleu, blanc, rouge (No uniforms, no football shirts, no make‐up etc.)

On Wednesday 24th June 7 pupils from Rose Hill travelled to Birmingham to represent the School in the IAPS Finals. RESULTS

The highlight of the day was Arthur Plun‐ke as he jumped 4.55m (1cm off the cur‐rent school record!) to win a silver medal in the Under 12 Long Jump and he is a year young.

ORHS v 1st XI Cricket Results

This year’s annual cricket match ORHS v 1st XI took place on Saturday 20th June at the Summer Fair. The Old Boys ba ed first and scored 129 for 5 in 20 overs. B B (27), B L (23), H M (20) and G G (20) were the top scorers. R F was the most successful bowler with 2 wickets The 1st XI scored 82 for 4 in reply. G K (24) and O B (23) were the top scorers. The Old Boys won by 47 runs.

Y7 Geography Fieldwork trip to London

On June 18th Year 7 went on a field trip to the Olympic Park in Stra ord. The trip was for us to collect data for our Common Entrance course work. We met our guide Dan and then looked round different places in Stra ord. Some were new and really nice but others were old and run down. We were given a ques on‐naire sheet which we had to complete. The ques ons were related to whether or not the area was safe. We also had to ask people what they thought about the Olympic park since the Olympics.

RHPA News S F Thank you to all those parents and school staff that helped to ensured we had a enjoyable and successful Summer Fair last Saturday.

S D The PA and Year 3 parents are organising and running the refreshments stall at Sports Day on Saturday. Coffee / tea so s drinks and pastries will be available from 9.30am. If you have any spare me and see that the stall is busy then please lend a hand.

W C Last week the school received the news that they have planning permission for the outdoor classroom which the PA is helping to fund with £10,000 of the money we have raised. This is going to be a wonderful enhancement to learning in the woods. We recently received the following le er from the Niemann Pick Research Founda on sharing their apprecia on for our recent £1000 dona on.

AUGUST Course 4: Monday 3rd – Friday 7th Courses 5 and 6: Each week from Mon 17th – Fri 27th

Lessons will be at the same me each day and will last 50 minutes. Stu‐dents are taught in groups of a maximum of five, each working at their own pace with targets set specifically for them.
