Pastor’s column

Painful enduranceLife is interesting. There areunknowns, mysteries, twists, turns, unexpected events, tragic moments, joyous moments, lasting memoriesboth good and bad, and so manyother descriptive words that can beused to describe this wonderful giftwe call life. One of the beautifulthings about life is that each andevery moment, and how we respondto those moments, is part of making

us into something new. God truly reveals His majestyin our creation and the way that He uses moments inour life to mold us into something better than we werebefore. Part of this molding process is joyful, but wehave to be honest and admit that part of it is painful.

We are diving into the book of Job. Job was a mandescribed by God as His servant, and there was noother man like Job. He had God favor, and he fearedthe Lord. He would never know the behind the scenesevents that led to his terrible suffering; and hesuffered far greater than any man ever should. Whenviewing his suffering and pain it is easy to say that itis unfair, and unjust. Such an assessment can often besaid about our own pain and suffering, especiallywhen we are chasing the Lord so faithfully. We, too,can feel that sometimes we are being punished forthings that we have not done, or that the Lord hasturned His back on us. In the midst of suffering wehave two choices. Once choice is to get angry andcurse the Lord. The other option is to follow theexample of Job, and in the midst of our suffering, when we are broken and all seems lost, we can falldown and worship the Lord.

We will never know the workings of the Lord. Hisways are not for our understanding. There are timeswhen we will be left wondering, seeking answers, andfinding none. It is not our duty to find answers, nomatter how much we want them; it is our duty, asfaithful Christians and followers of the One TrueKing, to worship the Lord and praise His great name!Stay true to your title, saint and child of God, and Hewill mold you, He will transform you. Live your lifefaithful to Him, and echo the call of Job, “the Lordknows the way I take, and when He has tried me Ishall come forth as gold”. Are you praying yet?
