foundation factsThe Rotary Foundation Trustees adopted the Future Vision Plan, a forward looking,strategic approach to fulfilling the Foundation’s mission that willcontinue its transformation and advancement. Based on input from a widevariety of Rotarians, the Foundation Trustees developed the Future VisionPlan, which is designed to• Simplify Foundation programs and processes consistent with themission• Focus Rotarian service efforts where they will have the greatest impactby addressing major world needs that are relevant to Rotarians• Offer program options to help achieve both global and local goals• Increase the sense of ownership at the district and club levels by transferringmore decisions to the districtsGrants structure. Under the new grants structure, the Foundation will providetwo types of grants:• Rotary Foundation District Grants — Block grants made to districts tosupport smaller projects, both locally and internationally. Districts mayuse up to 50 percent of their available District Designated Fund (DDF) forthese grants in a given Rotary year and administer the grant without theFoundation’s involvement.• Rotary Foundation Global Grants — Grants that support larger projectswith sustainable, high-impact outcomes in one of the six areas of focus:− Peace and confl ict prevention/resolution− Disease prevention and treatment− Water and sanitation− Maternal and child health− Basic education and literacy− Economic and community development

installationScheduled for Wednesday, June 22nd, this is one of those special events which all members should attend – especially

since we`ll all be billed for it anyway. The installation of our new President and Board of directors for the year commencing July 1st, 2011 will take place at the Heritage Inn - cocktails at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:00. The meal is always good and the evening is sure to be busy. A great opportunity to get better acquainted with your fellow members. An attendance sheet will be circulated well before the event.

district conferenceThis year`s conference in Spokane is spread over 4 days – Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9th-12th June – and includes many interesting and valuable presentations (did you read the email May 11th from our District Governor Sandy Wade?). Among others, R.I. President, Ray Klinginsmith, will be there and will be delivering an address on the Thursday evening.Now is the time to make your arrangements to take in all or part of this. Details are available on the website (Bob is this so?)

youthHELP! HELP! HELP! Rotary's newest Avenue of Service is "New Generations", and we need your support to be successful at it. Three examples of how you can get involved are coming up. Danica Jensen, our Sam Steele candidate, will have her culinary creation entered in the Cake Auction fundraiser on May 30; you are welcome to attend and support her. Thanks Linda Tank for doing just that at the Coming-out Ball. Cindy informs us that our inbound student is from Australia, and will join us in January, 2012; because he/she will be with us for an entire year, we need four host families. Can you help out? Talk is that we may restructure Rotaract, the group for young folks

from 18 - 30 years old; we have some ideas, but need a committee of three or four to get things moving!! If you can help initiate this group, contact Doreen.

golf As you are aware, we have been planning our annual Golf Scramble fund raiser for later this month. Typically our stalwart team is headed by Bob Learmoth and a band of loyal assistants including Claude W, Gord W, Fred G, and Dave M. We had recruited a couple of new faces plus myself to help this year as well. Unfortunately all of the returning members of our team are experiencing some health issues at the present time, and our fearless leader has recently experienced a personal loss - so it is with some dismay that I have asked the Board to approve our postponement of the golf tournament at this time. We will possibly revisit the event in the fall when schedules slow down, and people's health has bounced back. Thank you for what I am sure would have been your full support. Our thoughts go out to all those in the club needing a prayer right now...
