CombinedwithacoollatterhalfofMarch,achillyandsometimesfreezingstarttoAprilputthebrakesonspringandplantgrowthinthecentralandeasternportionofthestate.ColumbiaandSt.Louisare2–4degreesbelownormalforAprilandhaveexperiencedafewfrostsinthepastfewdays.Conversely,KansasCityandSpringfieldareadegreeortwoabovenormaltemperatures,andareprogressingconsiderablymorequicklyintospringthantheEast.ThisisanoddtemperaturedichotomysincetheprogressionintospringisnormallyswitchedwithSt.LouisbeingaheadofKC.Mostareasofthestatereceivedsomerain,withtheI-44corridorgettingthemostoutoflastweek’sstorms.ColumbiaandtheKansasCityareaarestillalittledry,running0.5–1inchbelownormalthusfarinApril.ForecastsindicatetemperatureswillriseinthroughthemiddleofApril,whichshouldputusontrackforfungicideapplicationthresholds(seebelow).Alongwiththistemperatureincrease,wealsohaveadecentchanceforrainfallacrossthestateoverthenexttwoweeks.Abitofdollarspotandpotentiallyalotoflargepatchcouldresultfromtheseconditions.
