During our recent visit with Rev. Cosmos Mutowa, NCM Africa Director, he shared that all
Primary schools in Swaziland, Africa must use the RSV Bible to do morning bible readings.
I would like to ensure EACH of our PRIMARY NAZARENE SCHOOLS have an RSV to
comply with the King of Swaziland’s demand.
Between now and June 15th
, I would like to collect 38 RSV Bibles. If you have one that
you are no longer using, could you please donate it to Books In Hands to be distributed in July to our
Nazarene Schools. If there are additional RSV Bibles collected, they will be distributed to Nazarene High
Schools and to other nearby primary schools. I will have a box set up at GROW and all other District events
or you can email me to arrange delivery or pick up.

Monday Updates “Monday Updates” from the Global NMI office have arrived. I pass them on to you as “Wednesday Updates”.
1. Fiscal Year 2017 – "Fiscal 2017 WEF receipts were below the prior year by 1.9 percent, while Mission
Specials were up 17 percent over the previous year. We are grateful for churches' participation in Mission
Specials, but also (and especially) through our continuing support of the World Evangelism Fund. The
current edition of the North American Mission Handbook reports that, over the past 20 years, North
American mission organizations focused on evangelism and discipleship has decreased from 66 percent to
44 percent. With an increasing population of unreached people groups, and now less than one-half of
mission ministries focusing on evangelism/discipleship, the Lord needs the Church of the Nazarene to
proclaim the Gospel and draw people into discipleship more than ever before!" —Keith Cox, General
Treasurer, Church of the Nazarene
2. Advent – This season is observed in Christian churches as a time of expectation for the celebration of
Christ’s birth at Christmas. This year, Advent begins on 3 December. To draw missions into Advent, host
an NMI prayer moment on each Sunday. Pray for:
3 December - Open hearts and doors, where the church is not yet.
10 December - Nazarene missionaries and church leaders to guide people around them into
Advent blessings.
17 December - Those who will discover the meaning of Christ’s coming and God’s grace.
24 December - Peace on earth, and goodwill toward all humanity.
3. Events in Curaçao – Jonathan and Lissett Petrus, a Dutch couple, met in the Netherlands and joined the
Church of the Nazarene. Several years later, they moved to the island of Curaçao. As the Mesoamerica
Region explored ways to initiate work in Curaçao, they learned that the Petrus family was living there.
Jonathan Petrus said, “Christians on the island find it difficult to get away from mere form and into a
personal relationship with Christ. But some are finding a new way, the way of holiness.” Because you
participate in the World Evangelism Fund, the Church of the Nazarene has a presence in the Netherlands
and now on Curaçao. To learn more, click here. (see “Nazarene presence officially recognized in Curaçao”
at engagemagazine.com)
4. Generosity is Contagious – The Christmas season is a time when our hearts are often inspired to give.
Many people choose to make a year-end gift to Nazarene ministries—because God gave us the ultimate gift
in Jesus Christ.
5. “JESUS” DVD Christmas Offer – "JESUS" DVDs are available at special prices for gift giving.
The "JESUS" film and "The Story of Jesus for Children" DVDs include the dialogue in 24 languages. Visit
JesusFilmShop.com/specials, or call 800-381-0911 (Monday–Friday—8 a.m. EST to 4 p.m. PST) to order
DVDs by phone.
6. Encuentro 2018 – For 50 years, Encuentro Missions has provided Nazarene mission opportunities for
teens and families. For 2018, Guatemala and Costa Rica will be the destinations for two one-week periods:
June 30–July 7 and July 7–July 14. While the slots for Costa Rica have been filled, openings remain for
both weeks in Guatemala. Encuentro allows for groups or individuals to participate at an affordable price.
Visit here (encuentromissions.org) for details. Early Bird costs are being extended to those who wish to
attend. However, open slots will fill quickly.
7. Feeding 180 People in 11 Countries – A Nazarene in Germany posted a challenge on Twitter. As a result,
over 180 homeless people were fed in 11 countries around the world in a day. In addition, work began that
continues. It is a testimony of the power of God to transform lives. Visit Engage magazine (see “The tweet
that fed 180 people” at engagemagazine.com) to read the whole story.
