Parent Helper Morning Tea

On Tuesday 19th November the school hosted our Parent Helper Morning Tea in the OOSH room. This

was an opportunity for the staff of SSPS to thank our volunteers/helpers of 2019. Scripture and Ethics

Teachers, parent carers who help with Maths & Literacy groups, P&C and Canteen Volunteers enjoyed

a delightful morning tea provided by the staff. The support of these wonderful volunteers is an

important part of our positive community culture and benefits our students across many areas. Thanks

to Mrs Foster for coordinating the event and we look forward to working again with all our community

volunteers in 2020.

A special presentation was made to Beverley Earnshaw for @ 26 years as a helper and scripture

teacher at Sans Souci PS. Thank you Mrs Earnshaw.

Dance Showcase

On Tuesday 19th November we had the Dance Showcase where all of the Sans Souci dance groups

performed showing of their amazing talent! What spectacular performances from all our amazing

dance groups! This year’s Dance Showcase celebrated in a combined presentation around the theme

Aladdin. It was so good seeing all of those happy faces on our students as they performed. Thank you

to all the parents and families for coming to watch the performances today and to our wonderful dance

teachers, we couldn’t have done it without you. A big thank you goes to all our teachers who coordinate

the dance groups throughout the year, ensuring all involved are supported throughout the year.

Band News Kindy Cushion Concert On Thursday the Performing Band and Ensemble played for the Kindergarten students at the Kindy Cushion Concert. There was plenty of laughter, dancing and singing. Our Performing Band and Ensemble very much enjoyed playing for Kindergarten and their teachers. The highlight was when the band played “What I’d Say” and the Kindergarten students stood up to say lovely things about their teachers. Thank you to Kindergarten for taking time out to come and dance along to our music.

Extravaganza On the 14th of November, Sans Souci Public School held their legendary Musical Extravaganza with 13 different groups and soloist performing. The schools three different bands which are the Training band, Performing band and Performing Ensemble were the main acts during the night. There was also a mini band called Leeroy and the Souci Sisters. In between the band songs many members of the band played a short but lovely solo with their instrument companions. Another t on the night were the sensational recorders, who played three songs. After the bands played their songs the delicious sausages left a great taste in our mouths. Many memories were made that night and we all hope that Year 6 carry on their love of music into high school and beyond. Elli and Felicia 6K

Stage 2 Harvest; Radishes and Rainbow Chard

During Term 4, Stage 2 students and teachers have established some gardens in a sunny space.

These gardens will be used in conjunction with various science, geography and history lessons.

This term we planted red cabbage and beetroot to create natural dyes. We also planted some radishes

and rainbow chard as a quick growing food source.

The students love watering the gardens, and as you can see from the photos, some classes have also

enjoyed tasting the vegetables.

Year 4 BYOD iPad Workshop

This week all year 4 classes participated in a BYOD taste tester lesson taught by Mrs Williamson. The

lesson was a mathematics lesson- applying addition strategies to solve a word problem. The App the

students used to demonstrate their understanding of this mathematics concept was Explain Everything.

The students were very engaged in the mathematics content and enjoyed the experience. The

students produced quality work during the lesson and were proud of their achievement. Students

posted their projects in Google Classroom and enjoyed presenting their projects to their class. All

students received positive feedback from their peers and teachers about their Explain Everything

presentations.

iPad Information for 2020 Year 5 Parents

For several years now our Stage 3 students

have been engaged in our outstanding Bring

Your Own Device program where the use of

technology is heavily integrated in all

curriculum areas providing students an

opportunity to develop a multitude of 21st

century learning skills. Due to several

enquiries from parents about our school’s

preferred iPad specifications, we’ve published

in this Newsletter some helpful guidelines to

assist your child in being BYOD ready in 2020.

Make sure you also refer to the date in the

calendar section for the 2020 Year 5 BYOD

parent information session that will be held

next week and presented by Mrs Williamson,

Mr Knight and Miss Vournazos.
