ABOUTElephant & Castle has always been an important part of London, whether as a transport junction, a hub for entertainment and shopping or a place to call home.

Delivered in partnership with Southwark Council and the local community, Elephant Park is a neighbourhood that welcomes people from all over London, benefits the local area through the creation of jobs and business opportunities, features award-winning new homes, is a social place to catch up with friends over a meal and somewhere to simply relax in a park amongst mature trees.

Elmer at the Elephant is the culmination of weeks of hard work that drew together community responses to the area, its multiple uses and meanings over time. We’re proud to present this co-created art trail and huge thanks goes to everybody that took part.

WILD IN ART Wild in Art produce spectacular public art events that entertain, enrich, inform and leave a lasting legacy. Our art trails bring together businesses and creative sectors with schools and local communities through the creation of uniquely painted sculptures.

We believe passionately that being creative through art not only gives people a voice, it also has a positive impact on society, education, the economy, and health and wellbeing.

Are you an Elmer superfan? Visit Ipswich, Plymouth and Tyne & Wear for fun, family-friendly art trails inspired by Elmer’s positive messages about inclusivity, courage and friendship. Elmer’s Big Parade Suffolk, Elmer’s Big Parade Plymouth and Elmer’s Great North Parade are turning the country patchwork!

ELMER IS DIFFERENT, ELMER IS PATCHWORK.Start your Elmer experience by reading the classic picture book by David McKee, now celebrating 30 colourful years! The grey elephants all love him, but Elmer soon starts to wonder what it would be like to be just the same as them… Find out how Elmer learns to love his and the herd’s true colours in this beloved children’s classic. You can pick up a copy of Elmer in all good bookshops and online, or why not go to your local library and find Elmer there!

CAN YOU SOLVE THE PUZZLE?There’s a different letter hiding on each of the plaques for the Elmer sculptures…

1. Write down the letters as you find each sculpture

2. Unscramble them to make a phrase

3. Enter the phrase at elephantpark.co.uk/elmer to be in with the chance of winning some super-duper Elmer prizes!

CLUE: We are all individuals, and we’re all different. But we also form groups, just like elephants.

Don’t forget...that when Elmer has a problem to solve, he goes on a thinking walk – but he’s never too busy to notice the wonders of the natural world around him.

Don’t want the Elmer fun to end?

There’s plenty of games and activities to keep everyone entertained.

Visit elephantpark.co.uk/elmer to get your hands on colouring

sheets, crosswords, puzzles and more.
