During this season we will be seeing shades that contrast in a widevariety of colors, like black, gray, cold colors like blue, greens, purples,and the neutrals such as beige. hanks to the Men’s’ Golf Tour Iberostar, taking place inwestern Mexico, incoming tourism related to this excitingsport has grown significantly since the first half of the year,

with very favorable results.

Vallarta and Los Cabos are big names in Mexican golf, but the RivieraMaya has also become a rallying point for the sport. The course atIberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club, with 18 extraordinary holes andmore than 6,800 yards of fairway to challenge players, and designedby the renowned creator P.B. Dye, is an example of quality and a greatchallenge to those who play it.

On this course, was played the final of the Men’s’ Golf Tour Iberostar,after 6 successful games at the best courses in Western Mexico. Therewere three categories and the champions of each were awarded aticket to the finals with the Iberostar hotels as their host.

Forty top-level players united for the final of this Men’s Golf TourIberostar, resulting in third category champions Jorge Salcido and JoseLuis Aceves net with 65 net strokes, accompanied by the championsof the second category Reynaldo Hernandez and Miguel Medina with62, and Cristobal Garcia and Jonathan Arce in the first category with66 net strokes.

Also, prizes were awarded for the best holes, offered by the IberostarGroup, and respective recognitions were given to the efforts of theorganizing and sponsoring company.

The commitment to promoting tourism focused on golf is ongoing,and with the first tour presented by a corporate hotelier with themagnitude of Iberostar Riviera Maya successfully completed, and fullof promise to become increasingly spectacular.

El Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic es un torneo anual de la AJGA parajóvenes jugadores entre doce y dieciocho años de edad. Futuras promesasdel golf provenientes de todo el mundo se reunieron para participar en este torneo que sellevó a cabo en el campo de golf El Camaleón. Patrick Grimes de la división de niños y GabrielaLópez (ganadora del MJGC 2009) de la división de niñas resultaron ganadores de este evento.

The Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic is an annual AJGA tournament for golfers between theages of twelve and eighteen years old. Promising players from all over the world gatheredat El Camaleon golf course to participate. presentan el Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic.

La AJGA regreso a Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo para elMayakoba Junior Golf Classic del 16 al 19 de Agosto. La competenciajuvenil de 54-hoyos stroke play se jugó en el Campo de Golf ElCamaleón, hogar del Único Evento de la PGA TOUR en México, elMayakoba Golf Classic y conto con 78 de los mejores golfistas conedades de entre 12 y 18 años.

34 de estos 78 jugadores representaron a México, el resto representoal Reino Unido y nueve estados de los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica.

Patrick Grimes de Palo Alto California encabezo la División Varonil.Este golfista estudia la secundaria y ya tiene dos victorias en la AJGAy ha terminado dentro de los mejores 15 en diez ocasiones en torneosde golf juvenil. En Julio, Grimes quedo empatado en séptimo lugaren el Trader Joe’s Junior Championship presentado por Pat Hurst.

Bruno Azcue de la Ciudad de México, también competió en elevento y con ganas de superar su sexto lugar del año pasado. EnJunio, Azcue termino empatado para el decimo lugar en el AbiertoJuvenil de la Federación Mexicana de Golf. En tres torneos de laAJGA, Azcue ha terminado dentro de los mejores 15.

En la División Femenil, la Campeona del Mayakoba Junior GolfClassic 2009, Gabriela Lopez de Héroes de Padierna, regreso paradefender su título. Rankeada No. 44 en el Polo Golf Rankings, Lopezfue la mexicana con mayor ranking en el torneo, ha terminado sieteveces dentro de las mejores diez en 12 torneos de la AJGA. En Julio,Lopez obtuvo victoria en el Junior World Golf Championship.

El Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic es uno de 85 eventos que organizala AJGA en más de 30 estados de los Estados Unidos de Norteaméricay México en el 2010.

n its continued effort to develop the game of golf throughoutMexico, the Mayakoba Golf Classic partnered with the AmericanJunior Golf Association (AJGA) for the fourth time to present the

Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic.

The AJGA returned to Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, for theMayakoba Junior Golf Classic, August 16-19. The 54-hole stroke playjunior golf event was played at El Camaleón Golf Club, home toMexico’s Only PGA TOUR Event, and featured 78 top junior golfers,ages 12-18, including 34 from Mexico. Overall, the tournament fieldrepresented Mexico, the United Kingdom, and nine U.S. states.

Headlining the Boys Division was Patrick Grimes of Palo Alto, Calif.The rising high school senior has two AJGA victories to his credit, aswell as 10 top-15 finishes in junior golf competition. In July, Grimestied for seventh at the Trader Joe’s Junior Championship hosted byPat Hurst.

Bruno Azcue of Mexico City, will also look to make a splash at theevent after a sixth place finish in 2009. In June, Azcue finished tiedfor 10th at the Mexican Golf Federation Junior Open. In three starts,Azcue has not placed outside of the top 15 at an AJGA event held inMexico.

In the Girls Division, 2009 champion Gabriela Lopez of Heroes dePadierna, Mexico returned to attempt to defend her title. At No. 44in the Polo Golf Rankings, Lopez is the highest-ranked player in thetournament field. The rising junior has notched seven top-10finishes in 12 AJGA starts. In July, Lopez carded a victory at the JuniorWorld Golf Championship.

The Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic is one of 85 events the AJGA willconduct in more than 30 U.S. states and Mexico in 2010.

BIRDWATCHING IN ISLA CONTOYIsla Contoy is a virgin island declared a Nature Reserveby the Mexican government. It is estimated that on thisisland you can find 152 species of birds, includingnative and migratory in the north. From April toOctober, this island is also a nesting ground for fourspecies of endangered turtles.

Isla Contoy is considered the most important bird sanctuaryin the Mexican Caribbean, and provides a safe habitatfor flora and fauna that live and migrate there each

“Nuestra estrategia para la temporada 2009 ha sido, dice el nuevoadministrador delegado Massimo Radice (ex director industrial yvicepresidente Sessa Marine), tener en función la empresa a nivelesmáximos posibles, en modo de garantizar la continuación del trabajo yde la cadena del suministro.

Sessa, en el transcurso de la estación 2010, ha entregado 497embarcaciones, de las cuales más de 100 eran aquellas que sobrepasabanlos 35 pies, mientras las unidades entregadas en el 2009 fueron 438;de las cuales 93 sobrepasaban los 35 pies. Guiada por más de 50años por Raffaella Radice, la empresa ve hoy en su interior unareorganización que apunta al mejoramiento y el crecimiento de lamisma empresa. Mismo en este contexto, permaneciendo aún comopresidente, Raffaella será sucedida por su primogénito MassimoRadice, apenas nominado administrador delegado por RiccardoRadice, nuevo vicepresidente.

A sus 46 años y después de haber sido por muchos años directorindustrial de Sessa Marine, Massimo Radice tendrá la tarea de delineary perseguir la visión estratégica del grupo. a fiesta en México es una de las tradiciones más arraigadas ensu idiosincrasia, especialmente la más importante y emblemáticaes la celebración del grito de independencia y este año se festejará

en grande ya que se cumplen doscientos años.

La fecha de inicio es el 16 de septiembre de 1810 cuando el curaMiguel Hidalgo y Costilla convoca a los indígenas y campesinos alevantarse en armas contra el dominio español que desde 1519sometía la llamada Nueva España.

El Grito de Dolores -proclamado por Hidalgo- reafirmaba la fidelidadde la sociedad criolla hacia el rey destronado y la veneración hacia laVirgen de Guadalupe, que serviría como icono en el estandarte delos insurgentes. “¡Viva la religión!, ¡viva nuestra madre santísima deGuadalupe!, ¡viva Fernando VII!, ¡viva la América y muera elmal gobierno!”

La independencia fue impulsada por la clase alta y el clero quienesrechazaban absolutamente la invasión francesa realizada porNapoleón Bonaparte en 1808. Los primeros defendían sus riquezasamenazadas por las nuevas normas e impuestos sobre el comercio yla explotación minera, mientras que los segundos defendían el poderde la Iglesia Católica. Pero en diciembre de 1810 Hidalgo transformasu pensamiento político ya que proclama en el Manifiesto sobre laautodeterminación de las naciones, el derecho divino de cada naciónde ser gobernada por sus mismos compatriotas lo que marca laruptura definitiva con el gobierno español.

Los líderes movimiento insurgente recorrieron el territorio colonial,exhortando al pueblo a través de incentivos monetarios y promesasde mejora en la calidad de vida, bastante precaria en esos momentos,por lo que rápidamente ganó adeptos al movimiento. Pero en Marzode 1811 fueron capturados y fusilados y sus cabezas fueron expuestasen la alhóndiga de granaditas. El movimiento independentistacontinuó por más de 10 años y se estima que murieron alrededor deun millón de personas, es decir, una sexta parte de toda la poblaciónde la Nueva España.

Agustín de Iturbide a cargo del ejército trigarante que defendía lareligión, la unión y la independencia fue quien logró consumar elmovimiento a través del Plan de Iguala el 24 de febrero de 1821.

Finalmente el 27 de septiembre de 1821 Iturbide asume el cargo depresidente, pero pocos meses después, se autoproclama emperadormotivo por el cual fue repudiado y un año más tarde fusilado por lastropas del general Santa Ana.

Así finalmente a partir de 1823 México es una república federalindependiente y autónoma. Irónicamente no fue sino hasta 1836,después del fallecimiento del monarca Fernando VII que Españareconoció la independencia de México.

The start date is September 16, 1810 when the priest Miguel Hidalgo yCostilla summoned the indigenous and peasants to revolt against theSpanish rule that since 1519 oppressed the so-called New Spain.

“El Grito de Dolores” as proclaimed by Hidalgo, reaffirmed the loyalty of theCreole society to the dethroned king and the veneration of the Virgin ofGuadalupe, which would serve as an icon in the banner of the insurgents.

“Long live religion! Long live our holy mother of Guadalupe! Long liveFernando VII! Long live America and death to bad government!”

Independence was driven by the upper class and clergy, who were stronglyagainst the French invasion by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1808. The firstdefended their wealth threatened by new rules and taxes on trade andmining, while the latter defended the power of the Catholic Church.

But in December 1810, Hidalgo transformed his political thought andproclaimed in the Manifesto on self-determination of nations, expressingthe divine right of every nation to be governed by their own citizens,which made the definitive split with the Spanish government.

The insurgent leaders toured the colonial territory, urging peoplethrough financial incentives and promises of improved quality of life,rather risky at the time, and quickly gained adherents to the movement. Butin March, 1811 they were captured and shot, and their heads weredisplayed in Alhóndiga de Granaditas.

The independence movement continued for more than 10 years and isestimated to have killed around a million people, or one sixth of theentire population of New Spain.

Agustín de Iturbide was in charge of the Trigarante army, which defended thereligion, the union, and the independence, and managed to accomplish themovement through the Plan de Iguala on February 24, 1821.

Finally, on September 27, 1821 Iturbide took office as president, but fewmonths later, he proclaimed himself emperor, the motive behind his beingrenounced and a year later shot by the troops of General Santa Ana.

So finally, after 1823, Mexico became a federal republic, independentand autonomous, but ironically it was not until 1836, after the death of KingFernando VII, when Spain recognized the independence of Mexico.

have seen a very strong 300% return on their investments since theearly 1990’s.

THEN THERE WAS PLAYA DEL CARMENLocated just 40 miles south of Cancun. In the 1990’s Playa delCarmen was only a small, sleepy fishing village with mostly dirtstreets, known as a “hippie” hangout and a place to catch the ferryto bustling Cozumel. But from 1990 to 1997 the population of Playadel Carmen exploded from 2,000 to 20,000 residents.

By 2006, growing at over 30% annually, it became the fastestgrowing city in the world (Guinness Book of World Records) andremains the fastest growing city in Mexico and all of Latin America.In 2010, Playa del Carmen is approaching 250,000 residents, 200hotels and 40,000 hotel rooms (more than Cancun). Investors in Playadel Carmen have witnessed a stunning 1000 % growth in their realestate holdings since 1990.

NOW THERE’S TULUMOnly 40 miles south of Playa del Carmen. Tulum boasts pristinepatches of tree-lined, white-sand beaches and huge swaths ofundeveloped coastal jungle land, recently dubbed by Condé NastTraveler, as “The Most Beautiful Beaches in the World” .

This Mayan Eden is the home of the Corona commercials and isquickly becoming some of the hottest real estate investmentproperty on the planet. Tulum has been proclaimed to be the next“Yoga Tourist Hotspot” by The New York Times, “A Gold Rush” byTravel and Leisure, and the “Hottest Section in Mexico” by the WallSt. Journal.

Yet, the growth here is just beginning. Much like Cancun of 1980 orPlaya del Carmen of 1990, except Tulum’s trajectory is much steeperand it’s growth is happening much faster.

From 30,000 to 3 Million. A couple of months ago, Felipe Calderon,the president of Mexico, held a press conference in Tulum announcingthat this laid back town of 30,000 inhabitants is getting a new internationalairport that is expected to receive 3 million new tourists each year.

To provide some perspective, currently Tulum has one red light, onegrocery store, two small banks, and only 3,500 hotel rooms. Airportconstruction is expected to begin this year and near completion bythe end of 2012. One can only fathom the economic growth that isabout to descend on this sleepy town. Investors in Tulum are expectingto see yields on their investments of anywhere from 500 - 1000%over the next 5 - 10 years, which would indeed seem, unbelievable,if not for the historical growth precedent of the other two analogouscities, Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

DESPUÉS FUE PLAYA DEL CARMENUbicada a solo 40 millas al sur de Cancún, en 1990 Playa del Carmenera solo un pueblo pesquero pequeño que contaba más que nada concalles sucias, conocido como el lugar “hippie” para pasar el tiempo yel lugar para tomar el ferry hacia Cozumel. Pero de 1990 a 1997 lapoblación de Playa del Carmen explotó de 2,000 a 20,000 residentes.

Para el 2006, creciendo más de 30% al año se convirtió en la ciudadcon más rápido crecimiento en el mundo (libro Guinnes de recordsmundiales) y permanece como la ciudad con mayor crecimiento enMéxico y todo latinoamérica. En el 2010, Playa del Carmen se estáacercando a los 250,000 residentes, 200 hoteles y 40,000 cuartos dehotel (mas que Cancún). Inversionistas en Playa del Carmen han sidotestigos de una increíble rentabilidad sobre su inversión del 1000% enlas propiedades que tenían desde 1990.

AHORA ESTÁ TULUMSolo a 40 millas sur de Playa del Carmen. Tulum ostenta parcelas deplayas vírgenes de arena blanca rodeadas dearboles y enromes franjas de tierra de selva costera sin desarrollar,recientemente nombrada por Conde Nast Traveler como “la playamás hermosa del mundo”.

Este edén Maya es la casa de los comerciales de Corona y rápidamentese está convirtiendo en uno de los lugares más populares de inversióninmobiliaria del planeta. Tulum ha sido proclamado como el próximo“lugar de moda turístico de Yoga” por el New York Times, “unafiebre de oro” por Travel and Leisure, y como “la sección más demoda en México” por el Wall Street Journal.

Sin embargo, el crecimiento aquí solo empieza. Muy similar a Cancúnen 1980 y a Playa del Carmen en 1990, excepto que la trayectoria deTulum es más brusca y está ocurriendo a mayor velocidad.

De 30,000 a 3 millones. Hace unos meses, Felipe Calderón, presiden-te de México sostuvo una conferencia de prensa en Tulum anuncian-do que este pueblo relajado de 30,000 habitantes contará con unnuevo aeropuerto internacional y se espera que reciba 3 millones denuevos turistas cada año.

Para brindar un poco de perspectiva, actualmente Tulum cuenta conun semáforo, una tienda de abarrotes, dos pequeños bancos y solocuenta con 3,500 cuartos de hotel. La construcción del aeropuertoestá prevista para comenzar este año y debe de completarse a finalesdel 2010. Uno tan solo puede comprender el crecimiento económicoque está a punto de descender sobre este pequeño pueblo adormilado.Inversionistas en Tulum esperan ver ganancias sobre su inversión encualquier punto entre 500-1000% en los próximos 5 a 10 años, locual parece increíble, sino por el precedente histórico de las analogíasde las otras dos ciudades Cancún y Playa del Carmen.

Los “booms” inmobiliarios pueden ser difíciles de predecir y algunasveces imposible de señalar pero de vez en cuando viene unaoportunidad que de hecho te dice que es obvio y posiblementeinevitable. Basado en los números de inversionistas y desarrolladoresahora rebosando en este adormilado pueblo mexicano, es bastanteclaro que el próximo gran boom está en Tulum.
