The HKU Force For Good Initiative

supported by the #HeForShe campaign

HeForShe is inviting people around the world to stand together to create a bold, visible force for gender equality. And it starts by taking action right now to create a gender equal world The HKU Force For Good Initiative

is proud to say #countmein and we will be hosting the event under the #HeForShe initiative.

Sexual Harassment issues often highlight an imbalance of gender equality by the perpetrator. A gender equal society should help towards a sexual harassment free one.

5-star approach to Leadership Development

SUSTAINABLELearning is a journey, not an eventWe seek to sustain learning over time by applying the 70:20:10 principles. Where feasible, programmes will feature residential workshops, action-learning projects, mentoring, 1:1 coaching, group coaching, pre and post-workshop exercises, and webinars.

DISRUPTIVEDisrupt conventional thinkingProvide real, impactful, and memorable experiences that inspire confidence to apply new attitudes and skills that make learning stick.

ORGANISATION BASED Grounding learning with business realityFocused on developing the required leadership capabilities and mindset to tackle relevant business challenges and make a positive impact on the business or strategic agenda.

PROVOCATIVE Sense of PurposeProvide contemporary and breakthrough insights, thought provoking ideas, and practical yet profoundly powerful tools that support leaders to be of service to something bigger than themselves.

TRANSFORMATIONAL Shift mindset, not just skill set.Apply powerful tools, exercises, and processes that touch both the ‘head’ and the ‘heart’ so as to facilitate attitudinal shifts and deeply transformational change.

Past BRIDGE Programmes

Kalinga Fellowship, 2017

Kalinga Fellowship, 2017

Kashmir Fellowship, 2015

We have focused on the following areas: sexual assault prevention, youth leadership, sustainable food growth, sanitation and clean water, education policy and others in places such as India, Indonesia, US, Kashmir and the UK.

Page 16: in Partnership with The University of Hong Kong HKU … - Overview.pdfin Partnership with The University of Hong Kong. 85% ... NGO leaders, students, ... Setting of the Strategic Challenge

In March 2017 we took nearly 100 corporates, NGO’s and civil society members to Odisha, India to tackle the question: “How might business, government and NGOs work together to diminish sexual assaults on girls in Odisha?”

We created eight strategies, with groups to implement them, for up to one year post-Fellowship.

We partnered with KISS, a 25,000 strong free school providing free education for children from tribal villages.

In only 5 months we have had:

▪ Corporates adopting inclusive hiring

▪ Up to 30,000 schoolgirls being taken through summer courses to be more empowered

▪ 500 young women being taken to screenings of ‘Poorna’

▪ A showing of the film to all 25,000 KISS students

▪ Two NGO’s forming an official partnership to streamline the support of trafficked and rescued women

▪ Large Bhubaneswar charity to target funding towards the safety of young women for 2018

▪ Initiative started by KISS to support young children to be able to go home during the holidays to visit their families and create closer familial connections

ABOUT THE BRIDGE INSTITUTE

The Bridge Institute takes the most contemporary methods of leadership and strategy, and applies them to the biggest challenges of our time (as set out in the Sustainable Development Goals). It brings the key

stakeholders (senior business leaders, senior public sector leaders, NGO leaders, etc.) together, helping them become better leaders first (high levels of consciousness, empathy, compassion, sense-making skills)

and then facilitates them through a breakthrough strategy process.

The mission of The Bridge Institute.

History tells us that all the great movements for change have one thing in common. The abolitionists, women’s suffrage, civil rights, human rights, equal rights – they all had great leadership.

The world is blessed with inspirational leaders who have dedicated their lives to protecting the societies they serve. They are already a powerful force for good. By investing in these leaders, and giving them the skills to be at their extraordinary

best, we can move further, faster towards a more peaceful, fairer and more prosperous society.
