PORTUGUESE PRESS UNIT – START UP ACTIVITIES
IEBA decided to involve organisations representing the most relevant minorities in Portugal and chose, among the existing organisations, the ones that have delegations or are located in Coimbra.
The first step to create the PLPU was making contacts with the chosen associations. We send emails and had meetings with 5 associations that work on racism, immigrants, women (especially immigrants), victims of crimes, LGBT and people with disability.
IEBA has established a collaboration protocol with each one, in the framework the In Other Words project.
IEBA has selected also a group facilitator. We decided to search for someone with a professional profile combining academic work in the field of minorities and discrimination, with social participation and activism in cause defense.
Portuguese Local Press Unit is composed by 3 persons from the project staff (2 Sociologists and 1 Consultant), 1 group facilitator (Anthropology) and 5 persons in behalf of the organizations representing minorities.
