FOOD SHELF SUPPORT—since we are not able to collect food on the first weekend of the month, you are encouraged to send a financial donation to the West Rutland Food Shelf. Make the check out to the WR Food Shelf, and mail it c/o Town Hall Offices, West Rutland, VT 05777. The need continues, but we must all stay safe, so a monetary donation is a preferred way to support them at this time.

FIRST STEPS— I know it is a difficult time for many people financially, as well as for the churches, and I always encourage people to tithe first, and take care of their families. But I also want to give people the opportunity to support First Step if they are able. If you are able, set aside some of your spare change or cash in a zip lock baggie, bottle, or whatever container you choose, from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day. You may drop off your collection after Father’s Day, June 21st, 2020, at the Parish Office. Thank you for your support. Blessings ~ David Wilkinson, Executive Director, First Steps Pregnancy Clinic. www.firststeprutland.com

PENTECOST SUNDAY MAY 31ST, 2020

PENTECOST SUNDAY

"Suddenly there came a sound from heaven , as of a vio-lent wind. . .it filled the whole house. . .And there ap-peared to them parted tongues as of fire, which settled upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit" (Epistle).

On Christmas we celebrate the birthday of Christ in His Physical Body. Today is the birthday of the Church, of all those who have been reborn into His Mystical Body.

How did the first Christians prepare? They were all "in prayer" with Mary; and they were "all of one mind," under the leadership of Peter, making ready to tell "men from every nation under heaven. . .of the wonderful works of God" Epistle). Yes, prayer and action are the marks of the true Christian.

In the Offertory we ask the Holy Spirit to "confirm" the graces "wrought in us" when we were baptized and con-firmed. We pray also "to relish" things of the Spirit and to benefit by "His consolation" (Prayer) in the struggle of Church and soul against "the prince of the world" (Gospel).

At the time of print this is our most current infor-mation—an insert will be added if there are changes or additional information that needs to be distributed.

In response to Governor Scott’s recent order for a phased restart of Vermont’s economy that balances the need to improve overall social and economic wellbeing with the need to prevent a resurgence of COVID-19 out-breaks, our churches will now be open June 1st, 2020.

For the safety of everyone and out of charity and love for each other, the following protocols must be followed:

* Stay home if you feel sick or have a fever.

* The Obligation to attend Sunday Mass remains lift-ed until further notice, especially if you are part of the vulnerable population and/or have underlying health conditions. * Everyone must wear a mask. * Sanitize your hands upon entry. * Pews will be clearly marked for appropriate social distancing - 6 feet apart. Ushers will seat you. * Please refrain from congregating in tight spaces or cordoned off areas. * Bulletins will be handed out at the end of Masses. They will also still be available on our website.
