Palmer Friedrik Klug was born on November 15, 1929 to Arthur and Clara (Palmeranz) Klug in Alexandria, Minnesota. Palmer was enlisted in the United States Army from 1948 –1956. He served in Panama and the Korean War.

Palmer married Gladys (Kitty) Autry on August 6, 1955. Following his military career, he was a Chef at the Plainsman and the El Rancho in Williston, North Dakota. He ran numerous restaurants in Williston and continued cooking and baking at the El Rancho restaurant until it’s closing in 2012.

He was a member of the Williston Round Table, The Moose Lodge 239, and the American Legion. He had many hobbies that included fishing, hunting and gardening. He was well known in town for sharing his produce from his huge garden. Making and sharing his homemade baked goods with all his friends and family brought him great joy.

He took pride in preparing appreciation banquets for the Police, Fire, and Public Works departments in Williston. Palmer was always willing to contribute his time and expertise to many community organizations and charities.

Palmer took pride in his family and you always knew that if Palmer was cooking you were in good hands.

Palmer is survived by his wife, Gladys (Kitty) Klug of Williston; sons, Robert “Mike” (Carmen) Klug of North Carolina, Howard (Melanie) Klug of Williston, James (Kari) Klug of Williston, and Lorin (Tammy) Klug of Idaho; daughter Sheila Cote of Idaho; grandchildren, Shawn Cote, Shelby Cote, and Kassie Cote, Shaemus Klug, Jazmine Klug, Allen Klug, Ryan Oldenburg and Dalton Oldenburg; seven great-grandchildren.
