SSTTEEPP 11To install the seal locate the word “UP”. Face

it up towards the body of the cleaner. Gentlystretch the seal over the foot pad of the cleaneruntil it sets itself into the groove as illustrated ingure 2. Once in place the seal should rotateand move freely.

ATTACH THE SEAL

NOTE

The seal is not reversible. It must be installedwith the at side facing down towards the poolliner and the pleated side facing upwardstowards the cleaner.

SSTTEEPP 22

The dive oat r estrictor is attached by sliding itover the cleaner’s body as shown in gure 3. It isfastened by sliding it over the “U” shaped lockingclip on the body of the cleaner . Make sur e thelocking tabs on both sides snap secur ely intoplace.

ATTACH THE DIVEFLOAT RESTRICTOR

NOTE

The dive oat r estrictor should be installedwith the oat facing up.

SSTTEEPP 44Your cleaner hose comes in 3’ sections which

must be connected together. The hoses areconnected by inserting the male cu of onesection of hose into the female cu of another.Twist the sections of hose together until youestablish a snug t (See gure 5). You will needto assemble enough sections of hose to reachfrom where the cleaner connects to yourskimmer to the opposite end of the pool, plus onesection. For example, if you have a 21’ roundpool, you will need to connect 8 sections of hosefor a total of 24’ of hose.

ASSEMBLE THE HOSE

NOTE

One of the hose sections has 2 female ends. This section should be tted last and will attachto the pool’s vacuum connection. Save extrasections of hose for replacements.

SSTTEEPP 55

This is done by simply attaching the valve tothe last section of hose. The advantage of usingthe valve is that it balances the ow of waterbetween the skimmer and the cleaner . Thevalve is str ongly r ecommended for maximumperformance, however is only necessary ininstances wher e ther e is excessive pump ow .Excessive suction will make the cleaner movetoo fast and could damage the vacuum’scomponents and/or decr ease the cleaner’s abilityto navigate the pool. In these instances theautomatic regulator valve must be used. Thiswill help r estrict ow of water and make thecleaner operate more eciently.

INSTALL AUTOMATICREGULATOR VALVE

NOTE

Automatic Regulator Valve must be installedso the bypass port is always facing down and isbelow the water level.

SSTTEEPP 66To install the eyeball diverter remove the

original eyeball fr om the r eturn by unscr ewing thelock ring. Replace the original eyeball with thecleaner eyeball diverter. Replace the lock ringand tighten. The best way to position the eyeballdiverter is so the ow is directed downward. This will help eliminate the r eturn ow frominterfering with the cleaner.

IINNSSTTAALLLLAATTIIOONNYour automatic pool cleaner is designed to work in a wide variety of swimming pools.

There are items that may or may not be needed to be installed for your cleaner to functionproperly. All installations are covered in this manual. Find which type of installationmatches your pool conguration and follow the instructions carefully.

For the cleaner to work properly, regardless of the installation type, the hose needs to becompletely primed. The easiest method of priming the hose is to simply put the end of thehose up to your pools return tting (eyeball) with the pump running. The pump will forcewater through the hose and purge all of the air out. Keep the pump running until there areno air bubbles coming out the opposite side.

Once fully assembled, your Automatic Pool Cleanershould look like this.......

OOPPTTIIOONN 11This is the most common type of installation.

This type of skimmer is provided with a vacuumplate that ts over the skimmer basket. The platehas an elbow. Place the end of the Automaticregulator valve over the elbow. Make sure that thebypass post on the valve is facing down.

SKIMMER VACUUM PLATE

OOPPTTIIOONN 22The skimmer provides a vacuum port in the

skimmer face plate below the skimmer opening. With this type of skimmer simply insert the endof the automatic regulator valve into the vacuumport.

SKIMMER VACUUM PORT

OOPPTTIIOONN 33For skimmers that do not use a vacuum plate.

Attach the end of the automatic regulator valveinto the 2” hose cone. The 2” hose cone is theninserted into the bottom of the skimmerNOTE

Make sure the cone ts snugly inside thebottom of the skimmer.

HHOOSSEE BBAALLAANNCCEEYou will also need to attach hose weights to neutralize the hose’s buoyancy in the water.

For inground pools all three weights are typically needed. The rst weight should beplaced on the st section of hose between 4 and 12 inches from the body’s swivel head. The next two weights should be positioned 6 feet and 10 feet from the body respectively. The hose weights may need to be adjusted depending on the style of your pool.

With the cleaner o, the hose balance is correct when the cleaner’s seal rests at on thepool oor and the main body makes a 45 degree angle with the pool oor. The cleaner willachieve the best performance when the hose neither weighs down or pulls up the unit.Adjust the weights one inch at a time as needed, until the proper hose balance is achieved.

• HOSE IS TOO LIGHT — If the hose rises towards the surface at an angle greater than45 degrees, move the weight closer to the cleaner.

• HOSE IS TOO HEAVY — If the hose sags downward at an angle less than45 degrees, move the weight away from the cleaner.

HHEELLPPFFUULL HHIINNTTSS• For pools with 2 suction lines (i.e. main drain and skimmer or 2 skimmers) it is

necessary to close o the suction line not being used for the cleaner. This can be doneby turning o the valve for the main drain, or using a skimmer bypass plate to restrictthe ow of water .

• As your vacuum cleaner removes debris fr om the pool and it is collected in your lter ,you may notice the vacuum operating slower than normal and a r eduction in ow fromthe return. Make sur e that you periodically check your lter pr essur e and backwashyour lter or clean your lter element as needed.

• Remove as many obstructions as possible including ladders, oats, or any other itemsthat may be in the pool and could limit the cleaner’s ability to navigate the pool.

• Do not coil hose when taking the cleaner out of the pool. The hose may retain theshape, forming a bend or kink which will hinder the cleaner’s performance.

VVAACCUUUUMM WWIINNTTEERR SSTTOORRAAGGEERemove your vacuum from the pool and dry completely. Disassemble the hose sections

and store in the original box, or lay the hoses out on a at surface. NEVER store the hosein a coiled position as it may retain the curved shape, not allowing the vacuum to operateefciently. Store the vacuum so the pleated seal lays at, or remove the seal and store it ina at position. Stor e all parts indoors.

RREEMMOOVVIINNGG DDEEBBRRIISS FFRROOMM TTHHEE FFLLAAPPPPEERRSometimes debris may clog the bottom of the cleaner and prevent the apper from

moving. This will r estrict the ow of the cleaner. The apper is located inside the mainbody and must move freely at all times. You can see the apper through the opening in thebafe plate when the cleaner is turned upside down. Try to fr ee the apper by moving itback and forth, or ush the cavity of the cleaner fr ee with a gar den hose. This will removeany debris that may be lodged inside the cleaner .

Page 7: IN-GROUND POOL CLEANER ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONSIN-GROUND POOL CLEANER ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS. NE4480 PARTS LIST Ref. # Order # Description 1 NEP2276 Body 2 NEP2287 Dive Float Restrictor

7

If debris is still lodged inside the cleaner, you must remove the apper. To do this youmust take out the four red plugs in the foot pad. These are found on the bottom of thecleaner. They can be removed using a at head screwdriver. Underneath there will be fourscrews. Unscrew them and remove the foot pad from the main body. Once removedthere is a plate. Remove the single screw from this plate and slide it out of the main body. This will expose the apper and it can be pulled out.

Remove any debris that may be inhibiting the apper. Once dislodged insert the apperback into the body. Slide the plate back into position and re-screw it into place. Thenre-install the foot pad. Make sure that all are securely in place.
