METAMORPHOSIS –a complete change of form as part of a natural development.

To become someone else, to change the skin – mankind has been fascinated by this idea for ages. Miraculous transformation of people into animals, plants or the elements of nature has been used in art repeatedly.

The director of the show Krzysztof Rau, together with the actors have explored what causes a bird or a man to become a bird or a man.

The words in this show have been replaced by the music of Robert Łuczak which helps to

uncover the mystery of all the characters and shapes of the cloth.

The State Puppet Theatre “Tęcza” (Rainbow) was started in 1946 in Poland by the actors Elzbieta and Tadeusz Czaplinscy.

Generations of excellent creators of the puppet theatre have contributed to its history; however it was Zofia Miklinska – an Artistic Director over many years – who had the greatest influence on the development of the artistic image. The presentation of traditional tales, legends and plays based on Polish customs and ceremonies distinguished “Tęcza” from other puppet theatres in the entire country for many years.

In 1991, Malgorzata Kaminska-Sobczyk became a Managing Director (Chief Executive) and Artistic Director of the theatre. She is a graduate in acting and directing courses from the former State Theatre School in Warsaw. The theatre started to offer contemporary plays for youth and performances raising important social problems.

The company now holds their own festival "Eurofest" – the International Festival of Puppet Theatres for EU Member States.

In the aging orphanage the days pass very uneventfully, but the nights are something quite different; at least for Tim they are. The light reflected from the stars is the only cure for his fear of the dark.

One night this fear leads him to the orphanage rooftop, where he discovers that his

favourite star has disappeared. Unfortunately it’s not going to be the last one.

Tim also discovers a peculiar character that goes by the name of the Cat Shepherd together with his faithful cat Tobermory, the latter to become Tim’s personal guardian.

The Shepherd is in charge of making children sleep peacefully, but Tim is not about to go to bed. He needs his star more than anything in the world, and will do what it takes to see it shine in the night sky once again”.

Manolito Four Eyes

Based on the best selling children’s novel, this adorable film for children and adults alike, has attended numerous international film festivals including The Berlinale where it got Special Mention by the Jury. The film has become one of the hits of 1999 with over 1million admissions at the Spanish box office.

This is a hilarious look at contemporary Madrid from the point of view of ten year old

Manolito. Witty, funny and moving, the film has crossed-over from Spain to become a family entertainment.

About the performersIn late 2002 famous Polish journalist, writer

and traveler Max Cegielski gathered a group of friends to form an ‘oriental’ DJ collective named Masala Soundsystem (Masala = mixture). Their main idea in terms of music was to present a thrilling selection of folk-soaked party tracks from various parts of the world, totally omitted by the ‘mainstream’ media. Their main idea in terms of philosophy was to show that cultural differences between nations and races don't have to be a source of conflict - they can form the basis for a fascinating musical dialogue led in the area of music and common joy instead.

The collective has played well over 500 parties and concerts, including gigs at the largest and most prestigious Polish festivals as well as successful foreign gigs.

How can Masala’s sound be described? It’s a clash of traditional, oriental string

instruments with the modern sounds of turntablism and synths. A confrontation of

Musicians: Rafał 'Praczas' Kołaciński (composition, synths, drum machines, leadership)Marcin 'Duże Pe' Matuszewski (MC'ing, vocals, lyrics), Bartłomiej 'Bart' Pałyga (throat singing, sarangi, kemanche, electric saz, jew harp), Daniel 'Danielsen' Moński (throat singing, darabuka, tabla, dhol) or Mikołaj 'Miki' Wielecki (cajon, timbal, pandeiro, caxixi, etc.)withMenada Dance Collective (live oriental dance performance), Janoo (live video performance)

the oriental drums like darabuka or dhol with drum synths or beatbox. A meeting of throat singing from Tuva with contemporary conscious urban poetry rhymed or sung by an MC. Masala gathers masters of various musical genres and techniques, however the final result seemed very unlikely to come together. However the final result proves that they are more than able to co-operate in a perfect harmony to create something extraordinary. From dub melancholy to the crazy energy of electro, dancehall, breakbeat and drum’n’bass, from East to West, from the past to the future, from Tarnobrzeg to Bangladesh. Total Masala!

Through our dances with different costumes, songs and melodies, performed with different national instruments – zither, pan pipes, reed pipes, bagpipes; we always try to tell all about archaic Lithuanian life. Our program "Lithuanian golden heritage" is composed of scenic Lithuanian folk dances, live songs and melodies, created or inspired by the folk and adapted by the best Lithuanian choreographers and composers.

“Žilvitis” of Vytautas Magnus University started in 1957 as a small folk dance group. During more than 50 years of history they created over 250 artistic programs and performed over 1500 concerts all over the world.

The group has participated and won laurels in many festivals and different competitions at home and abroad – in Italy, Spain, Greece,

Canada, USA, UK, Germany, Turkey and Poland.

“Žilvitis” is the leading ensemble in Lithuanian song and dance celebration which is held every four years.

In 1995 “Žilvitis” attained its first big evaluation – it became laureate of the first Lithuanian folk dance competition.

In 1999 the Centre of Lithuanian folk culture awarded “Žilvitis” for its creative activity. The ensemble was awarded by Golden bird nomination which is the top evaluation for folk art groups in Lithuania.

In 2001 “Žilvitis” became the minor laureate of national folk dance competition “Kadagys”.

In 2005 at the same competition “Žilvitis” was nominated as the best folk dance ensemble and won the grand prix.

But the prizes are not the biggest thing… we think, that the main point is to be together, the most beautiful music is the applause, the biggest prize – a warm and smiling audience.

Since the name of the ensemble has two meanings: osier tree or a particular element of a dance “weave”, we always say, that “Žilvitis” is young and verdurous, weaved of the songs and melodies, swaying in the wind, and raised by the dancers.

Kirikou is born in an African village where a witch, Karaba, has cast a terrible spell: water has dried up, villagers are fleeced, and men are kidnapped, mysteriously disappearing. “She eats them,” the frightened villagers say…Karaba is a cruel, magnificent woman, surrounded by submissive, but formidable mascots. As soon as Kirikou has both feet on the ground, he wants to free the village from her evil spell and uncover the reason for her nastiness. His fantastic adventures take him to the Forbidden Mountain. Here the Wise Man is waiting, he who knows Karaba the Witch’s secrets.

An old Russian general's nightmares are replaced by magical, fun-filled dreams when he adopts a playful dog, to whom he gives the name: Bonaparte as a token to his former enemy. To end a long lasting war grudge of the birds against the General, clever Bonaparte organizes a dog mutiny demanding that all caged birds be freed immediately. Hundreds of dogs sitting on the frozen river are soon in danger as the ice starts to break. The General takes on the challenge to save them, in a touching, poetic tale the history books seem to have forgotten.

A series of six stories told by means of a shadow theatre…A couple of creative and curious kids get together each night in an abandoned movie theatre. With the help of an old projectionist, they create a whole other universe, becoming the heroes of the stories they’ve invented.

The director takes an interesting approach to the play, where the story is not a linear story in the classical way, but much more like a puzzle. Bits and pieces of actual news footage from daily evening news, connected by the tv anchor, make the frame for the whole performance.

The play “INFERNO” by the children’s group “Carpe Diem” touches on the current problems of Western civilization and the role of mass media in people’s everyday lives. The play deals with the miscommunication between parents and their children, with the problems of child abuse, rage and the basic human need to resolve these problems.

The theater group “Carpe Diem” comes from Lendava, a small city at the Northeast of Slovenia, where the bilingual heritage of Slovenian and Hungarian language is still very much alive. They received many children’s festival awards in Slovenia and Hungary.

Silvia Pahl and Klaus Wilmanns first met in 1988 and have worked together in various stage-projects ever since. A decade later, in 1998, the artists established theater 3 hasen oben. They play pieces from the existing dramatic literature and their own productions for children and adults. Silvia and Klaus draw inspiration from the abundance of possibilities

and create connections between theater and various art forms. They are interested in artistic simplification and room for imagination, love and poetry. Music and rhythm as well as text, object, material, image and motion – each in their own special way are at work in their plays. They create theatre, richly flavored with pure images and sounds, an experience for all senses.
