OUR NEW GENEALOGY! In the last four years, we've added many new genealogical lines through dialog with our membership. The Delaps (94) and the Gagers (132) have many new records. The Check Your Record web page and the Dual Cody ID Project corrected major errors in the 44As, 44Bs and 44Ds. Our Genealogist has worked hard to include every valid contribution throughout the book, plus those missed on the 1st edition! Please go to page-8 or our web page, check your records and let us know of any changes so we can include them in this addition. We won’t do another edition for 5-10 years. We are striving hard to bring the files and books up-to-date and need your help. Cut off for in-puts is Dec. 31, 2016.
Wrapped in the familiar blue and gold, this publication is a professionally produced, authoritative compilation of the descendants of Philip and Martha of Beverly in 1698.
Printed in large type, on high quality acid-free paper, these 2 volumes contain 99 chapters, one for each 5th Generation Descendant, followed by their posterity, organized into family groups by birth order.
The index provides an easy way to look up birthdays and anniversaries. There's an explanation of the Cody ID and even a Consanguinity Chart that defines genealogical relationships like "2nd cousin once removed." For details and ordering see page 2.
NOTE: The color emailed version of the Review is more interesting, allows members timely updates and extra information with automatic links (in blue) to interesting web pages, so send your email address to [email protected]. Due to cost we can only publish a black & white hard copy Review every 2 years but color email copies are sent several times per year. Over the next few months you will also receive more details on the Reunion to help your planning (if you need a hard copy let us know).

Buffalo Bill's Family Gravestone Restoration
On a beautiful Wednesday in October, our team of gravestone
preservationists scouted Mt. Hope Cemetery in Rochester NY
for Buffalo Bill's family plot. Using the map, they quickly
located the children's markers and took pictures of each one.
Just down the path, they repeated the process for Buffalo Bill's
foster son, Johnny Baker's gravestone. Johnny had ties to
Rochester and cared for the Cody graves after Buffalo Bill died.
It had been a long drive from Cape Cod, so the next goal was
good lodging, refreshment, rest and preparation for the initial
treatment. The following day, Dwight and Rick sprayed the
stones with D/2 to neutralize years of acid build-up.
Returning Friday afternoon, they got out the safety glasses and
rubber gloves again, re-sprayed with the D/2, gently scrubbed
each stone to a lather and rinsed. Years of neglect disappeared!

As you can see the results are dramatic! The lichen on Arta's
stone is gone and Orra's stone practically shines. With a little
care, these historic relics of our family's favorite son can last a
lifetime while the staff ofMt. Hope Cemetery cuts the grass.
Away over yonder, at the last roundup in the happy hunting
grounds, Bill turned to Johnny and said with a smile, "They
didn't forget." Like an old buddy, Johnny returned the smile and
said, "How could they?" and so they rode.

We started on this trail with the "Buffalo Bill's Family
Gravesite Restoration" fundraiser in the June 2015 Review,
appealing for the capital needed to preserve the gravestones of
Buffalo Bill's son Kit, and daughters, Arta and Orra Maude.
Along the way, we heard the story and included Johnny.

Saturday afternoon, Sept. 10th, the Cody Family Ohio Circle met for their annual reunion. For the second year, we met at Maple Crest Farms and hosted by Joyce and Terry Moyer.
Several of our regulars were absent due to other obligations: Roland “Rocky” and Nancy Spoon were attending a family wedding and Jeff (Buffalo Bill) Steece and his family also attended a wedding. The Toni and John Trent family were absent due to the illness of Toni’s mother, Vivian Sidle, widow of Herbert Warren Sidle. Sadly, Vivian passed away a short time after the reunion. Vivian was a long-time supporter of the Ohio Circle and served in several roles over the years.
Earlier this year, the OH Circle and the Cody family also lost another of its long-time members, Ross Eldon Cody. Ross leaves behind a legacy of support of the Ohio Circle and is honored as a hero of the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge during WWII.

Attending were Joyce and Terrance Moyer, Sibyl Edwards, Bill Cody, Barry Cody, Frank and Brenda Cody, Terence Cody and Janet Owens, Linda and Jim Mueller, Caitlin Berg and Deb Westcott. An enjoyable time with a lot of good conversation, good food and a silent auction to help sustain the Ohio Circle coffers. Linda & Jim Mueller were warmly welcomed as first-time attendees. A business meeting was led by President Frank Cody which re- elected Officer’s, Frank Cody President, Terence Cody Vice- President and Toni Trent Treasurer, who will remain in office for one more year. The dates and location of the International Reunion were announced. All were encouraged to attend, if possible. Cousins were reminded to be sure that their records in the Cody Family database are up to date so that they will be correct in the next Genealogy to be published in time for July's 2017 International Reunion.
It was decided that the Ohio Circle reunion will be held in 2017 (date TBD), and the meeting concluded with an in-depth discussion about the future of the Ohio Circle and ways to encourage attendance at future gatherings. See you next year! ===========================================
