WHAT IS ICWCS???

In-cave Wireless Communication System (ICWCS) is a Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network (WMSN) based architecture used to communicate within a cave

A multimedia sensor node is composed of the following components:

Sensing unit

Processing unit (CPU)

Communication sub system

Storage unit (memory)

ICWCS has two kinds of nodes:

BACKBONE NODES(BN) which are mounted on the walls of the caves

MOBILE NODES (MN) which are similar to cell phones carried by team members

In addition to these nodes there is a directory service which usually runs on a computer outside the cave, stores IDs of BN, MN and user information.

1. DEPLOYMENT: WSN can be deployed manually orrandomly using the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) functionality of the BNs

2. INITIAL SETUP AND ROUTING: routing tables ofthe BNs are used to exchange topology information. Link state routing algorithm is used for routing calls. Age column values in the routing tables are used to detect dead BNs

3. MOBILE NODE REGISTRATION: each MN must

table present on the directory service. A MN retrieves a list of the online users from this table and shows the information to the user.

5. BROKEN LINK DETECTION AND RECOVERY: toprovide uninterrupted connectivity a dead BN should be detected and its operation must be resumed by either replacing

voice communication can be provided using WMSN in RF challenged indoor environment different types of sensor nodes were used, their design was based on VF1A sensor node ICWCS is a point-to-point communication, it is being improved to have multicast and broadcast capabilities
