Point of View
Guide students in the process
of generating & analyzing
ideas
16 Habits of The Mind(Dr Art Costa)
• Persisting
• Managing impulse
• Listening to others with empathy
• Thinking flexibly
• Thinking about thinking
• Striving for accuracy and precision
• Questioning and posing problems
• Applying past knowledge to new situations
• Thinking and communicating with clarity and precision
• Gathering data through all senses
• Creating, imagining, innovating
• Responding with wonderment & awe
• Taking responsible risks
• Finding humor
• Thinking inter-dependently
• Learning continuously
Area of focus on Habits of Mind
. Thinking flexibly
• Striving for accuracy and precision
• Questioning and posing problems
• Applying past knowledge to new situations
• Thinking and communicating with clarity and precision
• Thinking inter-dependently
Help students to explain the reasons
and purposes for the actions taken by
self and their partners.
Social Construction Of Mathematical Meaning
• Mathematics learning is a social and cognitive activity (Brown)
• Mathematical meaning and ideas can be constructed during negotiation.
• Ideas can be shared, resolved, and realized in problem solving activity, resulting in shared understanding. (Hung, Chua)

Application of Congruencyto Real Life Situation

Learning objectives/outcomes• To apply the concept of congruency to
analyze a situation in real-life.
• To apply Richard Paul’s wheel of reasoning in the process of analyzing
• To understand that mathematical models are simulation of real world processes and products
Feedback on MS Producer
• In an inquiry-based lesson, it is not possible to fully predict the kind of questions the students will be asking.
• This mode of learning enables the pupils to experience: - how mathematical ideas can be represented in real life,- how real life situation models a mathematical concept, - there are limitations in application of mathematics, & - how to think like a mathematicians.
Feedback on MS Producer
Use of IT:
• Video: Real-life applications can be brought into the classroom. This allows for the scenario to be discussed in the classroom environment
• Easy to use : Able to create and develop the lesson within a reasonable time. This prevents copyright issues, as the materials can be self-created.
Feedback on MS Producer
Use of IT:
• Thinking: Feature of ppt and video appearing side by side enables teacher to provide information and questions related to the video ahead of time (predictable one) to guide the pupils in the thinking process.
• Learn at own pace: Each group of pupils can discuss at their own pace. Time for teacher to go round to assist, clarify and questioning. The video can be paused for reflection, discussion, or repeated for review
Observations
• Expansion of vocabulary.
• More conscious effort on the part of the students to use the appropriate terminologies especially when they are explaining their process of solving a problem.
• Quality of responses have improved.
• Ask more questions.
