Trust in God

Dear Community,

As a Christian community within the Catholic tradition our mission is to bring hope to the world. My concern is for the children of our school; that they may find hope in their world. I see their innocence and realise how precious they are. As a grandfather I have a renewed appreciation of the wonder of children. I deeply understand that as parents, as family and as a school we must do all we can to keep our children safe and let them grow with innocence so that they may truly feel safe and happy and live in hope.

I am saddened for the children of the world who live in fear. Tragically that can be right here in our own local community. On the world stage we now see the tragic plight of children fleeing their homes with nothing and living in fear. Then when they arrive to the apparent safety of Australia, we add to this tragedy when we lock children in detention centres where they are at great risk.

On the weekend we saw the brave doctors and nurses of our Royal Children’s Hospital take a stand for children and families in detention. These truly courageous men and women exercised their right to freedom of speech and spoke up for the most vulnerable in our society. We applaud them. We pray that children and families everywhere find hope and we pray that we as a school community continue to be agents of hope for our children right here at SMMPS.

You are required to list each of them, in order of preference

Listing one only does not guarantee or prioritise your application at either College.

Each College will endeavour to accommodate first preferences where there are vacancies in order of selection criteria and will consult with each other regarding second preferences to ensure fairness and equity.

An asylum seeker is a person who has fled from his or her own country due to fear of persecution and has applied for (legal and physical) protection in another country but has not yet had their claim for protection assessed. A person remains as asylum seeker until their protection ‘status’ has been determined. A refugee is a person who has fled his or her own country and cannot return due to fear of persecution and has been given refugee status. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights-Article 14 Everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution. This right may not be invoked in the case of prosecutions genuinely arising from non-political crimes or from acts contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations.

We pray for those who feel so unsafe in their own countries that they risk their lives in moving to another.

We pray that they can find acceptance, safety and security elsewhere in a new home and with new hope.

We pray that countries where they move to will be generous and compassionate responding with open hearts

PARENT PORTAL-UPDATED

Good news our PARENT PORTAL is now available on devices including android and apple. The purpose of the PARENT PORTAL is to improve communication between home and school. At this stage our e-News, letters home regarding events, excursions etc. and your child’s reports are securely available via the PARENT PORTAL. Our School Calendar is also available.

The PARENT PORTAL also provides the space to update all family and child details and you are able to access details of your account.

We encourage all parents with access to the internet to utilise the convenience of our PARENT PORTAL.

I ask you to logon on to the Portal and Check all details on your family, and importantly: Amend, Add and/or Update Information such as phone numbers, email addresses, residential addresses and children’s medical information etc.

It is essential for the school that this information is up to date at all times in case the school is required to contact family members urgently.

Login and access the parent portal URL at: http://180.95.18.89/Swift or a Parent Portal icon/hyperlink is available on our school website: www.mmkeilordowns.catholic.edu.au
