Implementation
Done by: AL-Hussain AL-zaabi and Mohammed AL-qubtan
• AL-Hussain explained whats implemetation, and two of its methods: Parallel and phased implementation.
• I explained Direct changeover and pilot running methods.
implementation• After the development of the system the system analysis will want to create an
new system and there were the word implementation comes:
• Implementation in other words it mean effectuation which furthermore means looking for development and new things and probably replace the old system
• Lets take and example of a Liberian who was the system of writing the number and name of the number of the books borrowed from him in a piece of paper however it will be much easier if he/she made a system of number of books borrowed and number of books borrowed from the liabery
• senario:• Maitham and said came in the
liabery and borrowed 3 chemistry books and baqer and Farooq borrowed 4 physics and mahmmood and harith borrowed 6 economics books and 9 business books what do you think the Liberian should do to remember the borrowers.
• He will either:• 1)write their names in a paper • 2)write their names on his pc
implementation
Parallel running
Pilot running
Phased implementation
Direct changeover
Parallel running
• Have you ever tried to update your Microsoft office from 2010 to 2013?well if not then try to and if yes then that the parallel system is all about
• Parallel running is the running of the new system while the old system is still running . That means the data of the new system will replace the data of the old system but it will not delete them
Advantages and disadvantages• advantages• *workers can be trained to
use the new system gradually while being implemented
• *if there is any problem with the new system and it needs to be stopped the old system will be there as a backup
• disadvantages• *two sets of workers have to be
paid to keep both the old and the new system
• *other methods of implementation takes longer than this process
Phased implementationit involves the introduction of the new system one part at a time. It could be that the production of invoices is done by the new system whilst other aspect like the payroll and processing of orders carriers as in before. Any problem with the new method can be overcome and when the system is working perfectly another aspect can be moved into the new system such as processing orders. This continues until all aspects have been transferred to the new system
Advantages and disadvantages• Advantages:• *if the system doesn’t
work well with one aspects it can be exchanged by an another aspect which will woke normally
• *workers will have time to get used to the new system
• Disadvantages• *it slows the method of
implementation• *if the old system doesn’t work
properly you wont be able to fall back and use the old system
Direct changeover
• Replacing the old system with new one, directly .
Advantages
• 1) Less cost because only one set of workers, for the new system only.
• 2) Its very quick method for implementing new system.
Disadvantages
• 1) No backup system if there was something wrong.
• 2) you will fi nd diffi cultly to develop the new system.
Pilot running
• The new system will be implemented step by step in other regions or different places.
Advantages
• 1- if system is not running properly, not all branches are effected.
• 2- The later branches benefit by learning from the mistakes made in earlier branches.
Disadvantages
• It’s a slow method for implementation.
