The team interacted with 100 small children and demonstrated proper hand washing. The sessions were conducted as a part of outreach program of RIMS Community Medicine Department. IT News Thoubal, June.20 Thoubal District Superintendent of Police Dr. Ibomcha while expressing strong concern to the rise of drug abuse in the district said that almost every family in the district have either one or two drug abusers. The SP was talking to reporters in connection with the “Meeyamgi Numit” (Peoples’ Day) at his office room. “Its alarming and the district police in hands with the people of the district will bring a major shift to counter drug abusers in the coming 3 months”, Dr. Ibomcha assures the reporters. At last the accurate diagnosis was made for him at his first visit to SKY Hospital on 6/3/2019. His cath study revealed that his Pulmonary Arterial (PA) pressure was severely high at 78 mmHg with high PVRI of 5 (> 6 not operable) putting him at high risk category of open heart surgery for two operations – mitral valve replacement (MVR) and closure of the large ASD. DIPR Imphal, June 20, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has said that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is likely to lift the ban imposed on the financial transactions of the State Government due to overdraft within a few days. He was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the joint Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders’ Day held at the Durbar Hall of Chief Minister’s Secretariat today. The Chief Minister said that during his recent visit to New Delhi, he had apprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman of the current financial position of the State. N. Biren further informed that he requested the Finance Minister to release open market borrowings to overcome the current situation. Subsequently, the Union Ministry of Finance issued permission directing the RBI to raise open market borrowings of the State up to Rs. 795 crores. For the time being, the State Government is borrowing Rs. 400 crores from the open market through RBI to neutralise the current overdraft, he said while adding that the State Government is also expecting to receive Rs. 305 crores as State share of Central Taxes in a day or so. In another positive development, the Chief Minister said, he could secure RBI ban likely to be lifted soon: Chief Minister approval of different projects worth Rs. 176.43 crores from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) during the visit. Out of the total Rs. 176.43 crores, Rs. 59.06 crores is for three projects to be taken up under North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), the Chief Minister said and added that Rs. 90 crores for 38 projects under Hill Area Development Programme (HADP) particularly for Tamenglong district has also been approved. Rs. 27.37 crores for 16 projects under Flood Relief Works for 2017 damage due to floods in the State have also received approval, he added. The three projects under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) are upgradation of Moirang Sendra Road upto Sendra Hillock, Moirang Sendra Road to Omba Hillock and Keina Bazaar to Thanga Keibul Road for promoting tourism amounting 21.65 crores, augmentation of Moreh Water Supply Scheme amounting 22.84 crores and provision of special ward in JNIMS amounting 14.57 crores. The projects under Hill Area Development Programme (HADP) included construction of water supply schemes at Tamei, Nungba, Haochong etc., transit quarters/hostels for doctors, teachers and Government employees at Nungba, Noney, Haochong and sub-divisional headquarters in Noney and Tamenglong District, development and promotion of eco-tourism centre at Zeliad lake and Tharon cave etc. The scheme also covers projects related to employment generation for the local public by taking up various food processing units for fruits, vegetables, tea, bamboo, spices etc. with forward and backward linkages leading to overall increase in income. Out of the total Rs. 90 crores approved under HADP, Rs. 24.22 crores, which is 26.91%, has been earmarked for projects related to welfare of women and children. Flood relief works approved by DoNER included construction of irrigation canal and intake stair for RLI scheme at Chingarel and Keibi Awang Leikai, Imphal East and construction of pick-up weir across different rivers in Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur and Kangpokpi Districts. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 5 th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog mooted the need for rain water harvesting to curb water scarcity. The Prime Minister directed the States to impart awareness regarding rain water harvesting projects at district and village levels. As such, he would convene a joint meeting of Zilla Parishad Members, Pradhans and ADC Members soon, the Chief Minister added. Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders’ Day could not be held for the months of March, April and May due to election model code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections. In today’s joint Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders’ Day, the Chief Minister attended to around 510 complaints and personally met around 1500 people from 9 am to 2 pm. Chief Secretary Dr. J. Suresh Babu, Principal Secretary (Health) and Nodal Officer of Meeyamgi Numit Vumlunmang Vualnam, Secretary to CM N. Geoffrey, DIG (Adm) I.K. Muivah and other senior Government officials assisted the Chief Minister in assessing people’s complaints. Speaking in a public discourse on Financial Crisis in Manipur held today at Manipur Press Club Chinglen Maisnam said that the only solution to those is good politics taken up for the welfare of the people. He said that a movement is the need of the hour for good politics to strive in the land and added that the economy of the land is not decided by economist but by the politics of the land. Highlighting the reason behind the present financial crisis of the state Chinglen Maisnam said that the reason behind it was because of the Indian government derecognising Planning commission and omitting Special status of the state and the misappropriation, Financial indiscipline and mismanagement of the public funds. He also stressed that if there is any financial crisis than the authority should look into the area of non planned revenue expenditures where the legislature can manage in whatever way they can. He added that the financial crisis of the state is a prolonged one and the recent banned by RBI simply add more stress to the financial instability. He added that they believed that all the money was dispersed during the election times for their party which is the BJP party. He concluded that the politicians who hold power loots the public money and added that their is a disease where such politicians and legislators were never checked by the people of the land. Sotinkumar said that all the people of the land congregated towards BJP during election times even though BJP assured the contentious CAB to pass if they came to power. Tree Plantation at Chingoi Baruni DIPR Imphal June 20, As a part of the ‘Green Manipur, Clean Manipur’ campaign, Forest and Environment Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar today led a mass tree plantation programme at the Chingoi Baruni, Imphal East. The programme was jointly organised by the Forest Department and Directorate of Environment in collaboration with the Green Volunteers and locals of Andro. Addressing the mediapersons, Minister Shyamkumar said that the mass tree plantation programme is an initiative to combat the climate change which is a burning issue at present. Informing that the plantation programme will continue at the pilgrimage site, he said the target is to plant 1 lakh saplings in the surroundings areas of the Chingoi Baruni. He said various departments like Tourism, Art and Culture will be consulted for possible work which can be implemented in the area to make the place a tourist hotspot maintaining the ecosystem.

As a part of the ‘GreenManipur, Clean Manipur’campaign , Forest andEnvironment MinisterT h o u n a o j a mShyamkumar today led amass tree p lan tationprogramme at theChingoi Baruni, ImphalEast. The programme wasjointly organised by theForest Department andDirectorate ofEnvironment incollaboration with theGreen Volunteers andlocals of Andro.Addressing themediapersons, MinisterShyamkumar said that themass tree p lan tationprogramme is an initiativeto combat the climatechange which is aburning issue at present.Informing that theplantation programme willcontinue at thepilgrimage site, he saidthe target is to plant 1lakh saplings in thesurroundings areas of theChingoi Baruni. He saidvarious departments likeTourism, Art and Culturewill be consulted forpossible work which canbe implemented in thearea to make the place atour ist hotspotmain tain ing theecosystem.
