    OPENING PLENARY SESSION

The aim of the TCN-CAE 2005 Conference is to provide a forum forthe discussion of the latest developments of computational technolo-gies for industry and to broaden the definition of the discipline toinclude many other computation-oriented areas.

A specific theme of the conference will be how lessons learnt in theapplication of computational technologies can be made relevant tofoster innovation in industry. The opening plenary session of the TCN-CAE 2005 Conference will address this theme and discuss how thedevelopment and the application of advanced CAE tools is the key fac-tor for innovation.

Four keynote speeches held by prominent scientists, Daniel Benoualidwith “Utilisation of HPC in an Industrial Environment”, Carlo Bottassowith “Virtual Pilots for Maneuver Modelling and Simulation in VehicleDynamics, Xiao Bo-Chen with ““Some Applications of MathematicalAnalysis in the Study of Water Wave Interactions with Floating Bodies”Peter Wriggers with “Characterization and Simulation ofMicroheterogeneus Materials” will focus on identifying tomorrow'stechnological challenges in the major areas of computational scienceand engineering, and will discuss ways of turning emerging technolo-gies into opportunities for supporting innovation and to empower indu-strial competitiveness.
