Technology rules…

Oh darn…we are at school now. Time to put

the cell phones away. We can have fun when

school is out I guess.

21rst Century Students are exposed to…

Page 7: Immersive Education in the Classroom

But yet in our classrooms…

Students are given old tools and expected to produce new results. In reality, our students are dreaming of new ways to express themselves, invent new worlds and create in new ways.

Let’s see..I envision a purple panda with

claws that can zap the evil troll…I wish I could make a 3D panda. Sheesh!

Page 8: Immersive Education in the Classroom

Time for a new approach…

Einstein once said, 'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.’ It’s time for us to take a hard look at an innovative and successful new approach using immersive virtual worlds to help strengthen core concepts and help children learn. But what is immersive learning?

Page 9: Immersive Education in the Classroom

What to doEven if I had a virtual world to use what would I do with my students?

Too HardThe virtual world technology is so complicated. It will take me months to do even a simple world!

No TrainingHow can I be expected to use a virtual world when I don’t know how myself?

No TimeI barely have enough time to cover what is expected!

Too ExpensiveThe cost to bring my entire class into a virtual world would never get approved in our budget.

A never ending cycle of worries

Negative self talk….

Students assume historical identities…

My name is Morning Dove and today, I

will give you a tour around my village.

And immerse themselves in historical time periods…

Over to the west, by the larger Lake of the Boulders, Mock-sin-kic-kee, is a small lake. It has dark waters and

when the moon shines on it, it looks very gray and scary. Today, I shall

take you there.

Immersive Learning

1. WiloStar3D’s immersive learning approach allows children to interact and collaborate to achieve common goals.

3. Students can create and change the 3D virtual world as they create their digital stories and worlds. This gives them a sense of ownership and an audience.

2. Teach and apply 21rst Century Skills in an engaging and ever-evolving virtual world.

4. WiloStar3D immersive learning addresses higher order thinking skills.

Four Reasons to consider using immersive ed in the classroom

Page 17: Immersive Education in the Classroom

Constructivist Approach

Constructivist and active learning strategies are used to maximize student interactivity within the virtual world settings.

Custom AvatarsStudents are given access to a custom avatar tool that allows them to create their own virtual identities

Grabs and Holds Attention

WiloStar3D's educational worlds "immerse" and engage students in the same way that today's best video games grab and keep the attention of players.

Suspension of RealityImmersive education gives WiloStar3D students a sense of "being there" even when they are in remote locations. Students get that "really attending school" feeling by running around our 3D campus and assuming the identities of student avatars.

Why our approach works…
