TODAY’S WORD OF GOD

This year our Christmas season ends early, with the Baptism of the Lord being celebrated tomorrow. That ma-kes today the last Sunday of this year’s Christmas season. As we gat-her to hear once again the story of the magi, le tus reflect on its significance in our own lives and pray for the grace to recognize where God is being re-vealed to us today.

The refrain for our responsorial psalm sets the tone for today’s readings: “Lord, every nation on earth will adore you.” Saint Paul takes upthe messa-ge: the Gentiles are co-heirs and co-partners in the promise. Isaiah pro-claims that “nations shall walk by your light,” Did the magi come all that way just to see a little baby? No, they came to see the salvation of the whole world. Le tus allow these readings today to broaden our horizons so that we see God everywhere, and learn to

show God to everyone in our lives.
