IMI Orton is an Italian company located in Piacenza, in the northern part of Italy. Our experienced engineering and production team is regularly trained and provides full support in designing customised solutions to meet the most demanding technical specifications.

Established in 1963, IMI Orton is an international leader in the manufacturing of triple offset metal-seated valves, large diameter butterfly valves and rubber-lined valves, for on-off and control service.

LNG Liquefaction plants and terminalsAll around the world, LNG Liquefaction plants and regas terminals are currently using IMI Orton valves for critical services. The opportunity to select a large variety of technical solutions (including top entry triple offset metal-seated valves with inspection/ maintenance port) supports customers in meeting their stringent technical specifications. All IMI Orton valves are supplied after accurate successful testing,

which is performed at IMI Orton’s testing facility – a state-of-the-art centre in terms of testing capabilities for size and pressure class (up to 120in and ASME Cl. 2500, cryogenic from –196 deg. C to high temp +700 deg. C.) – something that is not currently available from any competitor.

Petrochemical industriesIMI Orton valves are very widely installed in petrochemical plants throughout the world thanks to the large availability of valve sizes and class – from small items of 2” up to very large sizes of 120”. PTA plants with process licensed manufacturers have approved IMI Orton products and, as a result, are regularly installing IMI Orton valves to guarantee top performance and very easy maintenance.

Desalination plantThanks to world-class performance, IMI Orton valves are installed in recent desalination plants, allowing customers to operate their plants

efficiently and with reliability. IMI Orton products are installed in the desalination process area to protect the pumps and are available up to 160”. Perfect sealing and modulating capability is recognised by plant operators and in the long term, an advantageous trouble-free maintenance programme is also provided to customers.

The unique IMI Orton triple eccentric design eliminates friction between the disc seal ring and the seat in the body, thereby preventing wear and any consequential leakage. The result is a valve with a longer service life.

Engineered for superior performanceMV-series valve discs include a resilient, laminated metal seal ring, composed of alternating layers of corrosion-resistant alloy and composite graphite. Each individual lamination provides an independent seal, unaffected by damage to the others. While improving long-term sealing properties, the resilience of the laminated design also allows lower operating torques. For high temperature and more severe applications, a hardened, non-laminated seal ring is available.

Assembled on the disc, the seal ring is engineered with tolerance to allow radial compression and flexing when torque is applied to close the valve. Consequently, the valve seals tightly even when pressurised from the reverse direction. In addition, the resiliency of the seal ring compensates for differences in expansion rates between body and trim.
