Almighty God, your people of all the ages live and praise you without ceasing. In our communion with you, we have communion with generations past and generations yet unborn. As we gather together on this All Saints Sunday, we confess our sins, and seek your pardon and mercy. Before your throne we are one with a great multitude which no one could number, and in praising you we join with those from every nation. Grant to your church on earth that as we celebrate the triumph of your saints in glory we may profit by their example and enter with them into the inexpressible joys you have prepared for those who love you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Lord, hear our confession and those we offer in the silence, ….. (a silence is kept) Amen.

Dear Congregation,

Last Sunday was a glorious day in the life of Westminster. The Sunday service in the morning and the Festival of Hymns in the afternoon together provided the best possible way to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. I want to thank our entire music ministry, both staff, and volunteers, for all of the work they put into the day.

As we come now to the first Sunday of November, it is the liturgical day called All Saints’ Sunday. This is the day that we celebrate the servants of God who are now in God’s heavenly congregation. As we celebrate All Saints’ Sunday, we will especially remember those of our own congregation who died during the last year. We will sense our continual connecting to them, and to all our loved ones who are no longer living, as we come to the table of Holy Communion.

All Saints’ Sunday reminds us of the people who have come before us and built the foundation upon which we now experience this Church and its ministry. As much as their sacrifices have blessed us, it is now our time to offer our time, talents sacrificially, and financial resources to continue to keep this church strong as we hand it over to a future generation. Imagine what

they will experience here because of our acts of commitment.

We are in our stewardship season. You have most likely received a pledge card in the mail, or you can find one in the pew rack. We invite you to seriously and prayerfully consider what God is calling you to do in your support of this church, and then fill out the pledge card accordingly. There are baskets in several places around the church to receive your pledge envelope. We invite you to place your pledge card in one of them.

And now, let us return to that theme of All Saints. In Hebrews, those who have come before us are called “the cloud of witnesses.” What if we could see that cloud? What difference would it make in our own discipleship? Let us imagine that, as we gather to worship God.

In God’s Love,

Dr. Paul J. KirbasPastor/Head of Staff

A Note From Rev. Dr. Paul J. Kirbas

NEW MEMBER CLASS / NOVEMBER 12 The New Member Class will be held on Sunday, November 12 at 9:00 AM in the Parlor. Contact Lori Jirousek, 524-2204, [email protected], or sign up online.

STEWARDSHIP 2017As we enter the last quarter of 2017, please note the remaining amount needed to make our goal for the 2017 annual stewardship campaign is $486,384.

As construction begins on our 2020 Capital Campaign, it presents the need to make large disbursements of funds to pay for the renovations. We thank everyone who pledged and supported the 2020 capital campaign. In order to stay on schedule, if you are able to do so, please prayerfully consider making your commitment earlier. Our thanks to everyone who has made, and can make, this possible!

STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN 2018Try to imagine what God could do….through us! Today, we begin our 2018 Stewardship Program. For three weeks, we will be invited to imagine the possibilities of our ministry together if we all deepened our stewardship for God’s work in and through Westminster Presbyterian Church. Our Stewardship leaders are John and Jane Kenney, and Carl and Susan Edwards.

During the weeks ahead, through special mailings, special events, and presentations in worship, you will be invited to offer a pledge of financial support for the work of the church in the year ahead. Be in prayer now as you seek to discern what God is calling you to do. It is an exciting time in the life of our church. Together, let’s imagine what God could do through our giving!

As of today, 61 families have turned in their pledge cards for the 2018 Stewardship Campaign totaling $243,402.00

Baskets are at the church entrances and front desk, giving you the opportunity to turn in your 2018 Stewardship Pledge Card..

Call to Confession Prayer of Confession (unison) Gracious God, your loving patience is unending and your faithfulness to us is unmatched. We fall short of your glory, but you are steadfast. You know our hearts, the times we have loved and the times when we have failed to love as we ought. We admit we often act in ways that betray our pursuit of self-serving desires and selfish purposes. We confess that we have not followed the path to which you have called us. Discomfort and fear hold us back from fully embracing and bearing witness to the new life you offer. Forgive us, O God, and give us courage that we may be your saints in our own time. Amen.

WORKDAY WAS MONUMENTALWork day was a monumental success! We landscaped, washed windows, cleaned floors, fixed ceilings, hung stained glass, watered trees, collected big trash, cleaned gutters, tidied closets, sorted letters for our new-to-us sign, and managed to watch the second half of the Cowboys’ game!

The Boy Scouts of Troop 4 were also here installing the coolest prayer garden we’ve ever seen. It was a fantastic day, Soli Deo

Gloria!

Many thanks to Maria McFadyen, WPC member, for donating a beautiful antique stained glass window to Connecting Point that was once a beloved feature in the First Presbyterian Church in Anadarko. We are honored to have given this piece of Presbyterian history a new home.

Brink Hall (center), the Scout for whom this Prayer Garden is his Eagle project, enjoys a job well done with two buddies and fellow Eagle Scouts, Grant McLain (left) and Christopher Hendee (right).

REFORMATION SUNDAYReformation Sunday we had the honor and pleasure of worshipping under the leadership of Matthew Arnold, cousin of our pianist Angela Michael. Matthew’s bagpipes added a special Reformation flair to the Prelude and Offertory. We are so grateful!

STEWARDSHIP SEASONAll pledges due today! We’re 44% of our $70,000 goal. If you give online, we still would like to know what your pledge is going to be for 2018. Pledge cards are found in the front of the hymnal, or talk to Aaron and Tyler about a prayerful gift.

HOLY YOGA FALL SESSIONOur Fall Session of Holy Yoga is well underway! Come join us on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:00 (with childcare) or on Saturday mornings at 9:00 (without childcare). Tuesday and Thursday classes are “break a sweat” worship experiences. Saturday classes are slower paced and more meditative - for those of you who just need to stretch, breathe, and pray. The session ends on November 18th so there is still plenty of time to join in. Check out our Facebook page to see a cool time lapse video of Thursday night yoga! It’s 30 minutes of class in 30 seconds!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT POTLUCK & BIBLE STUDY / NOVEMBER 15Potluck dinners, childcare, and open space for dialogue surrounding the questions facing the twenty first century Church - what more could you want? Our study is “Living the Questions,” and is focused on truly living with questions of church and faith in community. We meet every first and third Wednesday of the month with dinner, a short video, then discussion. Participants are encouraged to do some light reading from the book. Contact Hanna Hensley, our Education Coordinator for more details.

Thursday mornings from 10 AM - 11 AM Connecting Point is hosting a Playground Playgroup for young children and their parents. We open our time together with prayer and we end our time with a blessing. When the weather doesn’t cooperate we move the party inside. If you are a parent of young children or if you just really enjoy playing with young children, please come play and pray with us!
